Been a rough Dog Days challenge for me, but I rowed 3 straight days and got my week 2 numbers in. I did a leg workout with weights last Tuesday that left me so sore I couldn't row until Saturday. Glad I hung there, this is my5th straight Dog Day challenge. Maybe I won't go so hard on leg day this week, Tomorrow I'll try for a good start on week 3. Nice to see so many folks going for it! Onward mates!

Way to get those meters in, John! I have been blessed to participate in a multi-national exercise in Suffolk, VA that has a Concept 2 Model D. I have been able to keep up with the Dog Days Challenge so far. I travel back to San Antonio on Wednesday but should get back in full swing by Thursday.

Thanks for the awesome update! It's nice to be home (at least for 10 days) and get the opportunity to row on my own Model D. I just knocked out 10K for week three and should have no problem completing these last two weeks of the challenge. Then I will be "AWOL" for a week in Paraguay at the end of August.

This has been one hard Dog Days challenge for me, but I floated across the 30k mark this evening; so it's on to week 4. If anyone is looking for a little rowing inspiration try watching 'The Boys of 36' available on PBS. It is a documentary based on 'The Boys in the Boat' which recounts the story of the University of Washington rowing team which overcame numerous obstacles to win Gold at the 1936 Olympics in Germany. It helped me muddle through 8900 meters today. Go team, row onward. If you made it through the first 3 weeks of the DDoS challenge there is no stopping you now.

I have made a solid start to week 4 of the DDoS with 15km in the first 2 days. I hope everyone else is doing well. Let's start gearing up for the Fall Team challenge.

Great job, John! I will get back in the saddle this morning and should finish up the Dog Days by Sunday. I agree with you about the PBS special. It's a great story about a group of Washington and Oregon loggers who survived the Great Depression and found a rowing home at the University of Washington. They ultimately defeated a heavily favored German team at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. The Fall Challenge will indeed be a "challenge" for me because I have the Army 10-Miler in early October, but I will put some meters on the board for the team.

By the grace of God my family is safe and sound in San Antonio, and I have been able to row two hour-long sessions on Saturday and Sunday to complete the Dog Days of Summer Challenge! I am scheduled to travel to Paraguay on Monday (through Houston!), but I am hoping cooler heads will prevail and we will make the journey another time. If I'm not posting meters in the next week, that means I made it to South America. I am hoping and praying that I will get to stay home and take care of Soldiers and their families right here in Texas.

Good luck to everyone on the final day of the Dog Days of Summer Challenge. I am heading to South America this morning (just not by way of Houston).
