Boy has this group changed..... Seems to be very little activity and such, last post from anyone was a week ago... Not sure if this group is still a good fit for me. On a good note, since starting training for the Blackburn I have done 176,000 in a month.

It is still a solid group. Maybe not as much banter as there used to be, but still a lot of dedicated rowing. Those are some serious meters you are putting up. I have settled in to around 100-120k per month, coupled with a lot of cross training. The team would love to have you and activity will pick up as the Mud Season Madness challenge approaches. It will be my 4th straight year doing it. Still on the fence of whether to go for 5k or 10k per day. I've only ever done the 5k before. Anyway, welcome to the board and the team if you decide to stick with it.

It's more quite than it used to be. However, I still would rather be with this affiliation. Hoping to be doing the 5k daily for Mud Season Madness.

I'm so sorry that I disappeared. My aunt died and I had to go back to NJ to be with my family.

It sounds like the team is starting to gear up for March Mudness.
I had been getting my 5k in daily until I had to leave.

Hope I find you all well and healthy!
-Angela P

Special thanks to John B - I received my T-shirt and pin in the mail.

Hey Angela,

No apologies necessary, you do a wonderful service to us all, keeping us updated here. I am sorry to hear about the passing of your aunt. Please accept my condolences.

Welcome back and I am most likely going to go for the 5k target for 'Mud Season' Madness, which also happens to coincide with March Madness, I guess you are a bit of a college hoops fan. I didn't catch the 'March Mudness' at first.

Mud Season Madness begins on Wednesday.
This is a tough challenge since you basically need to set aside some time to row just about every day in March. Only 6 possible rest days - don't use too many at the beginning of the month. This year, I'll have company for 2 weeks of it. I hope I make it. I hope you try the challenge and make it too.

Here are the details:

Mud Season Madness
"5000 meters a day keeps Mud Season Madness at bay"

March 1–31
Here in northern New England (home of Concept2's headquarters), we have a "fifth season" that happens in between winter and spring—Mud Season! This is when the snow melts and our many dirt roads get really muddy—sometimes even impassable. It's a good time for an indoor workout, so join us for the Mud Season Madness Challenge!

The Details
Choose from two levels of participation:
-The Basic Challenge: Row or ski 5000 meters each day for 25 days or more in March.
-The Advanced Challenge: Row or ski 10,000 meters each day for 25 days or more in March.
-This is an individual challenge. You do not need to belong to a team to participate.
-Meters must be entered online in your online logbook.
-Indoor rower and SkiErg meters only (no on water/on snow meters please). You can combine meters from each machine to reach the daily total of 5000 or 10,000 meters.
-Kid's Mud Season Madness Challenge allows kids (aged 16 and under) to participate at 2500 meters.
-Adaptive athletes can choose to participate at the 2500m, 5000m, or 10k levels.

Who Can Participate
Anyone with an online logbook at concept2.com can participate in this challenge.

Incentives and Rewards
Participants who meet the challenge can enjoy:

-Prize drawings are held every day from all the people who have rowed/skied at least 5000 meters (2500 meters for kids and adaptive athletes) that day and entered it in their online logbook. The more days you row or ski, the more you increase your chances of winning!
-On randomly selected days during March, we will draw for an additional prize from those who row/ski at least 10,000 meters (2500 meters for kids and adaptive athletes).
-Prizes vary from day to day, but will include Concept2 clothing, heart rate monitors and some surprises!
-Drawings are held at (or soon after) noon each weekday for the previous day, so be sure to enter your meters promptly! We will post names of winners on the web site.
-Hall of Fame—All those who are on-track for rowing/skiing at least 5000 meters at least 25 days during the month of March will be listed in the Mud Season Madness Progress Board and will be able to download a specially designed certificate.
-For kids and adaptive athletes, the incentives and rewards go into effect at 2500 meters.

We also have the World Erg Challenge running from 3/15-4/15 - our meters count twice! LOL, jk. However, we can apply the our MSM meter to the WEC (if you sign up for the WEC, that is).

Happy Sunday!

Today is the first day of Mud Season Madness - try to get your 5 or 10 in today.

I totally intended on rowing this morning but alas I did not. I may have to take a rest day already!

Spent most of February running instead of rowing - partly because the weather has been pretty good, and partly because I wanted to rest up a little between the new year challenge and the mud season that kicked off today.

Put in 10k for day one and will try to keep it up. March is looking pretty busy, though, especially at weekends, which is when I'd usually be able to guarantee the metres.

Given that this is my first season I've never done any of these challenges before, but this one looks like it could be the toughest, given that you've got daily goals to hit - no sneaking over the line with 25k metres on the 31st of the month like I did in January then!

I will, as always, try my best for both the mud season and the team challenge that kicks off on the 15th.

Good luck to everyone for March & April challenges.

Way to go Draven and that is the right perspective on the Mudness, I am going for my 4th straight. I am only going for 5k though, with all my cross training 10k is just too much for me. Try to hit the first half of the month real hard and steady. I will shoot for at least 13 out of the first 15 days. I am shooting for about 6500 a day, a 30 minute row for me. And yes, I love that the team challenge overlaps with it, it keeps me motivated as the month grinds on. It is probably also why I average only about 2k a day in May and June every year too. Let's go all you mudders!

I can't believe I passed the four MM mark. Finally found something I can at least somewhat stick with. Only going 5K for the mud season madness though. Feeling a little lazy and have company coming in for a week. They'll probably be at the beach everyday so I can still sneak in my rowing.

Five days in to mud season madness, I hope everyone is hanging in there. I almost skipped today due to too many things going on, but I squeezed in a quick 25 minute session! 5 rows in 5 days so far, 20 more to go!

Congrats on hitting the 4mm mark Jack! Way to go!

Thanks for the update Angela.

Turned in my 8th mud season day - I've had one rest day so far, so still on track. I'm taking my wife away for her birthday this weekend, though, so another rest day may slip in there.

Weather is - for the most part - bright and dry in the UK at the moment, so I'm trying to keep up a decent amount of running, while getting the daily 10k rowing sessions in, which isn't always easy.

Anyway, good luck to everyone who's still pushing to hit that 25 day target, hopefully I'll make it and give myself a good start on the team challenge, too :-)

Hi Angela

The missing data for the first 6 days of March:
1st 5000
2nd 5346
3rd 6000
4th 7000
5th 8000
6th 5000
Managed each day so far but may have a break Sunday  .
