Whoop, whoop and wow ! Tristan's using the erg to get ready for an even stronger football field performance next year! I think this might be his first million meter season, or certainly the earliest he has made one million in a season! Congratulations! We wish you many, MANY more!
A Wagnerian congratulations Tristan! I can hear "The Ride of the Valkyries" :D

A puppy update:

Kai, now four months and double the weight, tries to snag any flag markers she happens upon during walks. Out for a snowy walk this weekend, I was trying to get a photo of her going after these flags. She unexpectedly sat down and posed instead of reaching for this batch, and I think the picture pretty much sums up her personality.

I found a gym on Staten Island, but not one near us that had a Concept II rower (I tried to convince them to trade in the piece of junk rowers that had for Concept II, but to no avail :) ) Anyway, 2 years and two surgeries later I am reunited with my rowing machine and slowly getting back into rowing.

How long did it take you to pose devilish little Kai with the two cones positioned just-so, behind her head??

Image Another episode.... could be your word of the day...

I know. You thought all the bunny trails of the mind were snowed over for the winter! It's so hard to stay focused when so MANY things are of interest in our world! This time it was a question that sounded like the beginning of a science project: If you took a picture of the Sun every day, always at the same hour and from the same location, would the Sun appear in the same spot in the sky? Intuitively, you know the answer is no...but what pattern would be created if any?

Read more at: http://phys.org/news/2016-01-solar-analemma.html

Image Solar analemma, an astrophotograph compiled by Guiseppe Pettrica of Italy, over the course of 2015. Photos taken from the same location, and same time of day, many times throughout 2015. The earth's axial tilt, and slightly elliptical orbit create the figure 8 pathway.

An analemma is : a plot or graph of the position of the sun in the sky at a certain time of day (as noon) at one locale measured throughout the year that has the shape of a figure 8. Photos or measurements at different latitudes, or on different planets, show analemmas with slightly different shapes than the one captured over the course of a year by Pettrica.

Oiling Chain Time?

Post by Thor MW » January 12th, 2016, 7:22 pm

Hey folks. With all the meters being rowed the last month or two, I thought I would give a reminder that the chain does need to be wiped and fresh oil applied now and then. I believe it is supposed to be done every 50 hours. You can see how many hours you have by going to your log page and clicking on Season Summary. On that screen I get a monthly summary and just past the months it shows the following info.
Overall 2,880,526m 232:38:17.5
This means I have 232 hours so will need to wipe and oil in another 18 hours or so. I hope I didn’t mess this up in any way. If so, I’m sure someone here will straighten me out.
Take care of the baby and the baby will take care of you.
Rock on.

Congrats on your meter milestone, and on your loot! Very cool, indeed. Concept2 is a generous company with great processes for keeping us motivated ... the rowing shorts and shirt were my favorite gift.
