Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
My goal is 200,000 meters. I have two doctors appt's in Jan. My medical records used to say 'obese', the look of shock & awe on my doctors' faces is PRICELESS! Using my erg has been life changing. Lisa and Izz deserve some kind of medal! Thank you!damselfly wrote:The Virtual Team Challenge starts Wednesday! This means it's time to set a goal for yourself!
I'd like to encourage everyone, especially those with weight problems, to keep doing their exercises! Also...busy hands aren't in cupboards looking for snacks!
Happy New Year!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Kyle's post has inspired me to make a post of inspiration for some of the newbies that don't know me. I was spending too much time on "forums" of all types on the computer and had to cut back. This forum got cut back drastically for me and I haven't been on here in quite some time.
Steady exercise, incorporating the Concept 2, helped me bring my diabetes under control. After having been diagnosed for 2-3 years at that time and after having my meds raised twice in those 2-3 years, this past October has been 2 years without ANY meds. I saw myself as only a few pounds overweight (guessing at 10-12 with 15 being the tops) and ended up losing almost 25 pounds. In the end I gained a couple back and hover at 6'2" and 194lbs. I feel better as a result of being in better shape.
This past year had less emphasis on the Concept 2 but I exercise at least 1/2 hour everyday without fail as exercise has become my "meds" and you must take your meds everyday, right? The Holiday Challenge put me back in the saddle so I intend to spend more time this year (although I won't commit to a number for this Challenge) and am looking to hit the 2 Million Meter mark before the season ends with the logbook.
So as we mark the beginning of a New Year, I'd like to wish everyone a Happy, Joyous, and HEALTHY New Year!!! Take control of your life by taking control of your eating and exercise habits. That's all for now!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Hey everybody!,
After my usual March-November/December absence from the forum, I'm back. I logged back in and its like I never left. This is a great group and I find it nice to pop back in after 8 months and see everything humming along
I'm fully back into "seasonal rowing mode" and have been steadily working on getting my body used to the C2 after a long Spring, Summer and most of Fall away from rowing. I did a lot of running, cycling and walking in the evenings but once daylight savings goes away it's time for the C2. I'm hoping to do 150-200k meters for the team this January and will be more active in the forum during the challenge.
Time to head into the basement and see how close I can come to that 19,178 meters to take me over 200k for the season!
Cheers!

Happy New Year, Team!!!!
Wow, what a great bunch of posts! For some reason I didn't get a "notification" email, and thought the crickets had taken over the team room! Just checked in to be sure and saw everyone's posts and goals. Hopefully I've got them all programmed in right. Let me know otherwise.
Here's to a great start to the new year, and ROW STRONG, TEAM!!!

Nice sentiment in that picture, Lisa. But shouldn't she be sitting the other way? And shouldn't she have another oar?
