That was one row, I've been trying to ramp things back up after some lower back issues earlier in the summer. Getting old(er) sucks!

Yes, yes it does.
If it sucks so much, why do we all do it?!

"Do not regret growing older - it is a privilege denied to many." -- Internetz

Turning 60 soon. Just hit 18 million meters. Thanks to the team for their support.

BTW: Started running again and was able to get up to an hour run within 2 weeks - I attribute that level of fitness to rowing.
Hang in there folks!

If you notice someone surreptitiously filming you with their camera in the gym while you row, you might want to check your form...

Can you imagine anyone in an actual BOAT doing this?!?!?! :o

Believe it or not.... No, not quite that extreme, but in the gym I did see one woman using the rowing machine purportedly to kill two birds with one stone, as in doing a weight training exercise with their cardio, in her case, doing dumbbell curls (this guy is maxing his gym time by combining his rowing with a shoulder workout). Fortunately, knowing her as well as I did, I suggested that she stop, as in ...you @#$% idiot... Not that it stopped her.

And here I was thinking that I would try going back to the gym; can my returning-hot-blooded-red-headed-temperament take it???

Well, I've posted 29.5 K today, covering my rowing sessions from August 19 to today. On a good day, I can manage 7.5K with my sliding scale of 2.5 k; 2.0 k; 1.5 k; 1 k, and I'm having more good days... Which brings up the September challenge...

Maybe not. I just saw that it starts 15 Sept.

Well, who's going to shoot me down for positive thinking??? Be warned: I have been known to change Snoopy's image in the past!

[Insert image here: Snoopy after the Red Barron if I knew how to do it] ... Oh, those were the days..

On a not entirely completely different note:
I've read all the posts for the past couple of weeks, and for you guys with the hyperthyroid side of things, be grateful for radioactive iodine: since having this problem, all kinds of people have told me their stories and you hypers definitely have the limelight: the worst tale being that my friend's grandmother had shock treatment because they thought she was crazy. I guess it didn't work, because then some bright spark realized it might be 'something' else. Then there was the case of my mother in the early 1960's: originally coming from snowy Regina, Saskatchewan (Hey! I can still spell it) it wasn't until we were in Australia that I saw her with a suntan, highlighting the fine white scar line across her throat from carotid to carotid. "Er...Mom," I said tactfully with just a slight choke and blood draining from my face, "Ah..um...what's that (much gesturing...) " and much relief if to hear that she'd had most of it cut out. So yay for radioactive iodine! (And thanks everyone, for your stories and your encouragement. Much appreciated.)

I know it doesn't seem like much when David rows more than that every season and it's taken me years, but better slowly than not at all!!
Congratulations, Lisa, many times over. Your comment "it's taken me years" is shared by many of us: I had one year when I only managed 25,500 m; most years I managed < 500,000m/year. And while I had that special year 2 seasons ago, I never ran or did mountain biking at the same time!

Be proud; you've done it! If you must compare, the true yardstick is that gadzillions aren't even thinking about trying. And won't. EVER!

Yay, Lisa :P

Yay, your own bad self! More good days == excellent!! :D Glad to see you post and read you're doing better...

You're right... I only tend to see the people ahead of me and feel "less than", instead of occasionally looking behind as well and feel OK. Here's to moving forward "just right"!

Yes, I OFFICIALLY entered our team, TimbukTWO, in the Fall Challenge.

I was somehow able to resist changing our category from "Virtual Team" to "Correctional Facility", but there are still 17 days during which that little devil on my left shoulder will be whispering in my ear...

Thank you for that lovely quote from that great philosopher Internetz! My favorite philosophers are Emerson, Leibniz, Internetz & Plato!

Saw the 18 million on your pic for the Standings! I remember when you were a mere pup of 14MM, and likely barely 56! And as the great strategist Sun Tzu declared, "With twenty, you get sweatshirt!" (That may not be an exact quote.)

Staying thin, & being generally active, also helps building up your running without your ankles & knees aching. Loved running, maybe because George Sheehan's books convinced me it was spiritual. Definitely because I was lousy at team sports. My leg brace severely limits any running I can do, so I restrict my efforts to the treadmill...
Wasn't it in the high 80's, low 90's last week in Clarion? Hope you took lots of water along!
