G'Day Paul
Just stumbled across your post.
There's a few Aussies into this erging business, but not too many into the clubs / forum scene. It's good to see you getting interested and ranking some times.
The few of us who do get involved generally use the British version of this same forum rather than this US version.
The British version can be found here

As for Aussies here and in clubs, well myself and Graham Lofthouse (Lofty) are both members of the Sub 7 Indoor Rowing Club - they are very welcoming of everybody who shows an interest, and are the most active of the clubs but they are also the most "demanding" in terms of what we expect from you. We require involvement in both the CTC (Cross Team Challenge) and our own ITC (Inter Team Challenge) each month). Personally, I'm never going to set the world on fire with my rowing, but being in a team like this really helps to keep me motivated while trying to balance regular training with hectic work / family life.
Also, there's Lindsay Hay who is a 62yo Vet from castle Hill and by God he's quick! Lindsay is an active member of the Forum Flyers club who are also on the British side of things.
Not sure how often you check this, seeing you posted it back in Jan, but there's the National Champs on at Wollongong Uni on 14 Sept. I'm not going to compete because I let my training slide after the trials in June, but Lofty and Graham will be there and it will be hugely encouraging for you to see just how big this slightly eccentric sport is getting In Aus.
Feel free to email me at
ajgothard@gmail.com if you want to get to know more.
Cheers and good luck with the training.
