I'm doing my congrats in bulk form from here on out. Congrats to the following:

Guy K for posting some awesome meters. We were briefly back in front of the Canadians. Perhaps Lisa or Izz have a few more Pats waiting to post huge numbers for us.

Izz for telling a joke that was actually funny.

Pat M for hitting her goal

We're really not too far behind the Canadians-10k as of now. Maybe if I cut back on the maple syrup??? Naahhhh.

When I posted my meters this morning, we went from being 4K behind Les Canadiennes to being about 15K ahead. We will need to tap deep reserves of the syrup of human desire to whump them.
Remember, this is the final week to row, ending next Thursday at midnight. We need to have well over 10 MIL by that time!

So, one fun thing to do if you're a geek, is check out the "suggestions" Google search offers when you type a partial search phrase. Check out what it shows for maple syrup:

Image

"Maple syrup urine disease", you say?

From nih.gov, "Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a metabolism disorder passed down through families in which the body cannot break down certain parts of proteins. Urine in persons with this condition can smell like maple syrup."

Cool. B)

Forget the urine problem-what about maple syrup heist??? That deserves serious punishment-possibly even the death penalty!

Nah, it was CANADIAN syrup. I find it funny they have a "global strategic maple syrup reserve" and syrup "cartels".

We MUST beat these people, if only to uphold the principles of capitalism, the free market, and unfettered trade!! We need to give an oar to the "invisible hand of the market" and get it pulling for TimBukTWO!

OK- I just came up with a mathematical formula to encourage more meters. Here it is- 5 (yes 5) LARGE chocolate chip cookies for breakfast x too much dinner= motivation to do 16,000 meters by 10:30 A.M. thereby encouraging more chocolate chip cookies for later which thereby encourages yet more meters. Give it a try-the only thing to gain is more meters (and don't forget the larger waistline).

8 Million Meters and Counting!

Post by markman » January 26th, 2013, 12:53 pm

I just finished a session on the C2 which was enough to get me over my goal of 100k and when I updated my log I noticed that the total team meters for the challenge was 7,999,921. That was too tempting so I got back on the rower and ticked of another 90 meters to take the team total just over 8 million. :D

I took yesterday off. I just wanted to come right out with it before meters were posted. There it is. Now you have it. Zero. That's what I did.

I hate to introduce a moment of seriousness, but my wife underwent emergency heart surgery yesterday. It was minimally invasive and a huge success. There's nothing to get too excited about, but I thought I'd share since we have a virtual connection. I have now shared this with you, but I still would never ask you for money. Boom! See what I did there? I started with serious and then closed with an inside joke.

I PR'd 500m today. It is on my logcard, but forgot what my time was. I'll upload it later. Any PR attempt 2000 meters or less really scrambles my brain. I'm just happy to have gotten to they gym considering that I'm in and out of the hospital day and night plus my first race is only a week away.

Glad to hear all is well with your wife, and here's to a speedy recovery
