I have to come here to seek sympathy. I recently joined an arena soccer team. Haven't played since my teenage years. Sprinting is a whole different set of muscles apparently. I am amazed I am keeping up with my virtual challenge meters through this as well.

On the bright side, scored my first goal last night :-)

Amen to that! As another former soccer player, it is soooo humbling to go back to a sport you were once halfway decent at.
Good on you for scoring! Yeeehaaa!

On that note - I'm off to Hawaii for five days for our long delayed honeymoon. No rowing for the week, but some excellent hikes, snorkeling and hopefully some beach time! B)

You three made my radar today. I don't know if that is good or bad, but I have emoticons and I'm not afraid to use them.

Congrats to John on the marathon! This is a big deal! I'm glad you took a break from jumping over campfires to cramp your backside on a rower. I wouldn't want to be your hip flexors today.

Aditya - Congrats on 500k! Your halfway to a big milestone. You'll have to tell us about your profile photo sometime. I hear Florida has nice mountain ranges so my guess is something outside of Miami.

Dale, seriously. I'm supposed to take the bronze medal in this group. I don't feel well as it is and now you've got a wild hair. This aggression against the man will not stand, man. I'm going to have to ask you to slow it down a bit for me.

Slow day for me on the rower. I'm still not feeling 100% so my pace is down. A slow pace makes it easy to pile on the meters, but that doesn't do a thing for my training. I almost think I'd rather swim or bike if I can't row fast. I can do those things slowly and just call it crosstraining. Otherwise, I'm too big to be a coxswain. :|

Either we'll pass Greenville or get passed by Canada soon. I'm not sure which.

I started rowing Feb 4 last year, so am hoping to finish my first million by Feb 3. Am at 895K... Getting there will also mean I go past my 100K goal for the Jan team challenge! Work has been heavy - hence my erratic rowing pattern last couple of months. Fingers crossed on hitting my goals!

My profile photo is from a visit to the Himalayas a few years ago. The five peaks are collectively called Panchchuli. Needless to say, it was heavenly! :)

Ditto for me. I'd almost rather not row than row slowly, but I have been rowing very slowly for the past week for the sake of the team challenge.

I've been super busy at work and was behind my goal. Yesterday was a little cold for an outdoor bike ride so I settled in and did the single longest row I've ever done! Now, my butt is pretty sore today  but I managed to gt in 30 minutes worth. I'm back on track now.

I'm amazed how many meters people are piling on here this month. I don't know how you guys do it but I'm suitably impressed. Keep up the great work!

Hi folks! I haven't been to the forum in awhile and thought I'd check in.

Happy Honeymooning to "Acorn." Sounds great!

Lisa, how are you healing up? Well, I hope.

Izzz- Catching up with us from the ER? Oh, my! I hope that turned out on the good side of things.

Maple syrup- yes, I do that. In fact, it'll be time to tap in a couple of weeks. Those Canadians got NUTTIN' on my syrup!

That is all. I'm sorry I'm a little low on meters lately. I have a sick kid and a hubby who's out of town for the week. We're just making due around here for now. I'll be back up to speed soon, I'm sure.

-Cindy

Hope everything is OK!
Sorry to keep you in suspense! I did pull an all-nighter in the ER in Hadassah Hospital - Mt. Scopus (Har HaTzofim in Hebrew). My mother-in-law turned 90 in November, but is almost totally independent, even doing most of her own shopping and cooking.
They invited me to stay with them, and I did. The second night there, she complained of blood in her stool, then proceeded to go blank for 5 minutes - just sitting up in her chair but totally unresponsive. My father-in-law said that it's the first time he's ever seen her do that, so we called the volunteer Emergency Responders (Hebrew name: Hatzalah. They always beat the ambulance to the house, so they are working on the patient for a few minutes by the time the ambulance arrives. They literally have to turn away volunteers, as the work is very gratifying since they clearly saving lives - but they try to maintain a certain homogeneity.). By the time they arrived, she was totally lucid - and since she didn't want to be in the hospital for tests over the weekend when all her children were flying in for her party, she talked the Responders and Ambulance Corps (Magen David Adom - 'Red Shield of David') not to take her in.
A half hour later, she again went blank, first pulling off clothes because she was so hot, then slumping unresponsively. Hatzalah asked my father-in-law over the phone to pinch her to make sure it wasn't only sleep, and a solid pinch elicited nothing. This faint also lasted about 5 minutes, and though she was lucid when she came out of it, the ambulance took her to the hospital for tests over her protestations. My father-in-law, whose 90th birthday is in 2 months, was feeling overwhelmed and asked me to go along.
I attended to the paperwork as they checked her in. A nurse and later a doctor checked her for everything from demetia to epileptic seizures to internal bleeding. They seemed to decide (without giving us any clear response) that it was internal bleeding, and they put her in a surgery preparation unit (which made her furious, as she refused to miss the weekend festivities).
In the morning, the regular doctors came in, checked the test results, and decided to send a scope down into her stomach. There. they saw minor bleeding from stomach irritation. She admitted that besides taking a 1/4 aspirin daily on the advice of her cardiologist, she had started taking aspirin daily for pain. The doctor took her off all aspirin, as it had caused her gastrointestinal bleeding, and prescribed a non-NSAID for any pain.
She fully participated in the weekend, had no recurrences or bloody stools, and was back to complaining that none of the harried party planners were slowing down to listen to her excellent advice...

No, I haven't caught up my sleep yet, and now I'm back stateside. (I did 10K and a 2K cooldown, so at least I should stop dropping in the rankings...)
