Thanks Jim. mind you the whole family has gone down with a head cold. Janet had it as we headed off for the weekend, no we're all out for the count. Cheers, BBBbrotherjim wrote:Baz, all of the climbing , racing, and adventure sports you participate are very exciting to read about. Some of us, live vicariously through these events. ( me for one) You know all the rowing you do when you train helps you to perform so well. So many of our teammates train on the C2 rower so we can do other sports or just live a more healthy and fulfilling life. Part time? Please! You like each and every one of my teammates, are full time participants in making life healthier for ourselves, families, and friends.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Knowing my propensity for always choosing winners (Cubs, Dolphins), during the Tigers/Yankees series, I wore a 60's era Yankee cap (sorry Richard). I wore my brotherinlaws Cardinals visor during the Giants/ Redbirds series. Ummmm, I promise not to wear any Giants gear during the WS Robyn, nor Tigers either. Have cousins in MI who might get angry.Kona2 wrote:What a great Giants win!!!

Da Do Ron Ron
Happy Mole Day? Like chemistry mole?! Wow, Ron - that's a whole new celebration day - good job with the numbers!
The following descriptor is taken from Supremecourtjester's blog (and that was a fun find, too). We mean Avogadro Number Mole Day. Mole Day is an unofficial holiday celebrated among chemists on October 23, between 6:02 AM and 6:02 PM, making the date 6:02 10/23 in the American style of writing dates. The time and date are derived from Avogadro's number, which is approximately 6.02×1023, defining the number of particles (atoms or molecules) in one mole of substance, one of the seven base SI units.
Does Avogadro have your number? (Whoa....Ron sent me down a master bunny trail today...)
Mole Day traces its origins to an article that appeared in The Science Teacher magazine in the early 1980s about a high school chemistry teacher's reasons for celebrating the day. The idea for Mole Day took root. The National Mole Day Foundation was formed on May 15, 1991. The American Chemical Society plans National Chemistry Week so that Mole Day falls within the week. Today Mole Day is celebrated around the world.
The theme of this year's Mole Day is Molar Eclipse...couldn't be more fitting for this Lunar bound team!
![Image](http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii240/Kona2007_bucket/Molareclipse.jpg)
And from How Stuff Works: MOLE DAY: A DAY AFTER A CHEMIST'S HEART
You probably won't get the day off work or find your local drugstore flush with cards celebrating the occasion, but Mole Day is celebrated every year by chemists throughout the world. Since Avogadro's number is 6.022 × 1023, it only makes sense that the holiday starts at 6:02 a.m. every Oct. 23. Revelers tell chemistry jokes, blow bubbles of natural gas that they set ablaze, toast with drinks chilled by dry ice and even recite the mole pledge of allegiance. I pledge allegiance to the mole, and to the science from which it comes, one SI unit, extremely divisible, with micromoles and millimoles for all. (Provided by R. Thomas Myers - Kent State University, Kent, OH) Btw, an SI unit is an international symbol of measurement...
Wow. Chemistry would have been more fun if we'd had Mole Day....
But I have digressed...

bg - I'm still smiling about the avocados....and the mole sauce...there are indeed some foodies on this team! And some teammates cleverly disguise their meter totals to be a pun created by meter numbers...the number 1,695 for example translates into 16-9-5 or p-i-e which could mean that RT is rowing for pie or it could be that it's a play on the word for the symbol

Hooyah! The World Series starts this evening...will the Giants' bats be favorable or will the Tigers' pitching keep them quiet....stay tuned....
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Game 1 in the books, Giants are looking tough. Good hitting and great defense by the Giants. Detroit better get the bats going or it will be a short Series for them.
