LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

A member of an indoor rowing team or club? If so, this is the place for you.

Can this one team row to the moon and back?

Thanks for the warm welcome. The upbeat and friendly support and encouragement is part of why I decided LUNA-TICS was the right place for me. :D

I finished my first million Saturday, actually. I'm probably going to cut back just a little in the near future and adopt a more balanced and varied fitness approach since I'm getting close to my weight loss goal and multiple 5k sessions every day is probably not something I can fit into my life over the long term--I still expect to be racking up lots of meters and hours, though, and I'll definitely be keeping up the pace through the current challenges!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.31.12

ImageGreat snakes! This was an exclamation used when The Adventures of TinTin was translated from the Belgian into English...kind of an odd expression. Some say that the translators should have just said "Mon Dieu!" but maybe that wasn't G rated enough. The Adventures of TinTin was a comic strip that was created around the time of World War II, and its author/illustrator was a guy named Herge. The stories are complex, and dog Snowy is quite good. Unfortunately, the recent movie The Adventures of TinTin didn't fare too well. But it was the great snakes bit that sent me down the bunny trail. K9 Kona discovered a snake in the yard yesterday, and was quite vocal in letting me know that there was an invader. Hissing, slithering invader.
And so we greet The Dog Days of Summer. I am looking forward to hearing some good dog tales from those who have dogs...

Dog Days of Summer

The Dog Days of Summer runs from August 1–28 and features a different total distance goal each week.
The Details

Row or ski, indoors or outdoors, completing each of the following four distance goals during the timeframes indicated and log them in your online logbook:

Week 1, Aug. 1–7: 20,000 meters
Week 2, Aug. 8–14: 30,000 meters
Week 3, Aug. 15–21: 40,000 meters
Week 4, Aug. 22–28: 50,000 meters

The distance goals do not have to be done in one sitting, but must be done during the timeframe indicated. By the end of the challenge, you will have accumulated 140,000 meters.
This is an individual challenge. (You do not need to belong to a team to participate.)
Meters must be entered online.
Indoor rower, on water, SkiErg, and on snow meters count.

Season meters as of 92/365 = 39,559,935 m

Total meters on the day = 1,718,894 m

Oars in space (participation) = 47 percent

Rowlympics continues to draw a lot of interest - and, so far, there are 477 medalists from all over the Rowing Universe, including the South Pole where Jim is currently working on his silver medal status. And how cool was it that the host country Great Britain earned its first gold medal in rowing. There are so many great stories of athletes in the Olympics - just as there are many great stories to be told here.

We have 26 teammates who have earned medals: and since I am getting lost in terms of who has been recognized and who hasn't, I'm just going to list everyone here.
