Re: Knotty Knitters Team Room
Yay team! Since I'm a numbers-junkie, I looked at the total standings for all teams.
We finished in the top 20% for total distance, despite only having 16 rowers! Some of the top teams had several hundred participants. Great work! Hope to do this again next January!

Re: Knotty Knitters Team Room
I am SO glad I found this team.
My name is Lexa, I have been wanting to start rowing for a while now and my rower arrives this week! I was just browsing the teams and I just about died when I saw this thread. I've been knitting for 6 1/2 years now, and I spend most of my days either chasing my daughter or knitting.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to join a team right now, so any help on that would be much appreciated! Other than that I can't wait to get started on this adventure
Also, I'm ellasmommy2010 on ravelry.

Hello Lexa!
Congratulations on getting your own indoor rower. Very exciting! The World Erg Challenge ended on April 15. The next team challenge isn't until September, so you'll have plenty of time to join the team before then. We'll be happy to have you. The function to add yourself to a team is turned off right now, but should be available again after May 1 or so. In the meantime, there are many individual challenges taking place. You can see the Concept2 Challenge Calendar here: http://www.concept2.com/us/support/manu ... lendar.pdf.
As for knitting, what kinds of things do you knit in the summer? I knit a lot in the winter, but once it starts to get warm, I find it so hard to pick up those needles!
Happy rowing,
Dena, Knotty Knitters Team Captain

Re: Knotty Knitters Team Room
Hi All!
Hoping that everyone is enjoying summer! I have been away from my rowing machine since sometime in May, enjoying being outdoors hiking and biking. Today I returned to my rowing machine and yikes....I "managed" 3,500 meters where last May I could sit down and do 15K no problem. I've obviously become a tad rusty!! I see that there is a Fall Challenge. Will the Knotty Knitters be participating? I'll be gone for the first week of it, but am hoping to use this impending challenge as incentive to fold rowing into my hiking and biking routine. I find that without a "challenge", I tend to waft off and find little excuses to avoid regular workouts

Yes, I'll sign the Knotty Knitters up for the Fall Team Challenge. Glad you'll be joining us again! I haven't rowed since May either and I'm sure I am rusty too. It's been a beautiful summer here in Vermont and I also have been exercising outside a lot more than inside. Hopefully we can build up to some decent 5k workouts before the challenge starts.

Hello!
I kicked off the Fall Challenge this morning with an 8K row, though the website doesn't say so (the Fall Challenge and Team Standings pages both remain blank..but I swear I rowed!) But...now I'm off to catch a plane to New Mexico, Utah and Idaho where I hope to do a lot of hiking. Back in a week!

Thanks Cindy! That's awesome. Everything is showing up as it should now. Maybe there was a hiccup when you were looking at it. I see several people have logged meters--way to go Samantha for leading us in the individual meter totals. I'll be joining in the fun later today.
By the way, I just barely started a new knitting project last night, a lovely little baby cardigan in the softest yarn I've ever worked with (Sublime Baby Silk and Bamboo). Now it feels officially like fall to me!
Good job everyone! Here's to a great challenge!

Back to rowing, it feels good. I've been the recipient of various germs this winter season. Thanks to all the kiddies I work with my immune system has gotten a workout this year.
I got a new monitor and bungee cord (I can tell the difference in the pull) for the rower this christmas. It's really nice.

I hope to join the team and do the World Erg Challenge. I haven't done that one before, I don't think.

Re: Knotty Knitters Team Room
Hi!
I just joined the Knotty Knitters Team! My name is Evelyn, I'm 39 years old and I'm from The Netherlands. I just started with rowing in June of this year and I like it very much! I like to be in a team because of the chalenges, it makes rowing much more interesting I think. The Knotty Knitters Team sounds very nice to me because I own a woolshop together with my mother-in-law. She owns the shop more than 35 years now. I joined her six years ago, made a webshop an now selling everything that belongs to knitting and crocheting. So, I love knitting and crocheting!
Best regards,
Evelyn
I try to write in my best English, I hope you don't mind the mistakes..

Welcome to the Knotty Knitters team Evelyn! It's great to have you row with us! You are so lucky to have all the yarn you want to knit with right at your fingertips. Your English is terrific and I hope you enjoy the Fall Team Challenge.

Thanks, Dena!
How does a Challenge work? Row as much as you can during that period?
It is a preference to have all the beautiful yarn in reach! You understand that I am in the middle of a dozen projects!
Bye!

Yes, row as many meters as you can between Sept 15-Oct 15. There are prizes for non-virtual clubs, but for virtual clubs like ours, we row for bragging rights.

Hi Lady's,
what is our team goal for the Chalenge? What is the goal from each of you? I am just curious!
Have a nice day!

Evelyn

Re: Knotty Knitters Team Room
Welcome to the team, Evelyn! I envy you the yarn!
My personal goal for this challenge is around 150,000 meters. We'll see if I make it this time. For later-in-the-season challenges I can often do 250K or more in a month, but I don't row in the summer so I'm rusty now and am back to having to get up at 4am to have time to row...so I'm adjusting to that, too.
Good luck with the challenge and again, welcome to the team!
