Woohoo! Overall Concept2 is at 95 percent....just a little more everyone, just a little more!

Merry Christmas to all our Southern Hemisphere teammates today...hope it is a good day for all of you. You rowed an awesome Holiday Challenge! And...all brought home their reindeer! That's excellent!

Will work on capturing the highlights today and next day....did capture numbers, but little time to do a lot with them. Right now, focusing on the overall Concept2 goal! Gotta get my own last 10K meters in for the challenge.

Image Rudolf (Kaylee)

Image Blue (Ashlee)

Image Gold (Ethan)

As is our team tradition for some of our youngest rowers, Kaylee has the most junior meters (that I know of) and will lead the Northern Hemisphere sleigh tonight. Ashlee and Ethan will be right behind her helping light the way as their reindeer wear blue and gold flashing noses. Good rowing by all !

Meanwhile, back at Reindeer Central...enrage is very close to getting his donation meters done....just a little less than 10K to go! C'mon! You can do it!

Rodrigo and Wim are very close to earning their 200K and the coveted Holiday Challenge pin. Keep going, keep going!

And a Merry Christmas to all from the Blue Mountains!

Had Christmas breakfast with one half of the family in Warrimoo this morning, off to Blackheath at the other side of the mountains for an evening meal with all the trimmings! Just snuck in a 5k effort between visits to counter some of the extra "energy food" that will be consumed tonight!

Well done on the challenge meters to all... a mighty herd of Reindeer indeed!

Cheers,
Dave

Merry Christmas one and all! And I hope everyone enjoyed their Holiday challenge. Mine was a struggle, but I made it. I'm proud of myself, the entire team, and the rowing community in general.

As of writing, $29,198.24 has been raised. Hopefully the last $801.76 will come in still, but even if it doesn't, it's still a massive effort at 1.23B meters. Wow.

Enjoy a very well deserved Christmas :).

Oh, and last but not least, a big thank you to K2 for the updates, and C2 for the challenge and their donations. Motivation is always a struggle for me, especially during the holiday season. The challenge really helped.

Merry Christmas too all my Lunatic friends! I hope the challenge went well for all and according to Kona's updates, it seems to have gone extremely well. Congratulations to everyone on personal bests, joining the team, meeting the challenge, or simply trying their best.

Thanks to everyone for all the support, camaraderie, and motivation you offer. I couldn't ask for a better virtual team.

Happy New Year and on to a better year in 2012.

Karyn

PS(I'll erg some next week, but likely take it easy and rest up for more erging in the JVTC.)

Hah! Under the tree you say?! These kinds of accomplishments aren't hidden under any tree...they blaze across the skies of the rowing universe! What a way to bring home the Holiday Challenge!! Still, well said in an understated kind of way...

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.24.11

Post by Kona2 » December 25th, 2011, 11:47 am

Image And all through the night....

We have rowed an astounding 20,563,265 m during this Holiday Challenge - and I'll bet there are still some as yet unreported meters out there in our rowing universe, and in the collective Concept2 rowing universe. Rowers all over the world have truly poured it on during the last two days as we went from 85 percent of goal to what is now 98 percent of goal. Meters will continue to accumulate in the next couple of days, and there is hope that we will close the gap on the remaining 2 to 2.5 percent of the Concept2 donation. It would be a first ever fulfillment of the FULL donation - and you know how we love to celebrate first evers!

Image

Hope this finds you and yours celebrating good times with family and friends. Here at Reindeer Central, this astrogator is the only EARLY riser which has proven helpful on Christmas mornings past. There was that one year of the Moon Bouncer gift that Santa was bringing...hooboy, thought we were going to have heart attacks getting that bouncer filled with air BEFORE Santa arrived. I know you've all been there.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 12.25.11

Post by Kona2 » December 26th, 2011, 1:28 pm

Woohoo! What a great Holiday Challenge indeed! Now we just have to extract that last $385.96 from the Rowing Universe and we will be at 100 percent of goal. As for the Lunies, hooboy - blew the lid right off that goal thermometer by pulling in a whopping 231 percent of team goal to contribute one percent of the total amount of the Concept2 donation. And what a tremendous reindeer herd! The Luna Herd had 70 reindeer....up from 48 the previous year. We rowed over 20 million Holiday Challenge meters, and we celebrated many meter milestones.

Ron understates the importance of his contributions - as do many quiet contributors on this team. There are so many different stories and inspirational people on this team....we don't always remark upon them, but we definitely feel their impact. Many teammates have had some very hard losses and tough situations in their lives in this past year. Seeing them pick themselves up, and through sheer willpower keep going is one of the best gifts we can receive. Helps us be better humans I think.

I haven't quite figured out how to manage the changing overall meter numbers with respect to our adventure to the moon and back travel distances. Our team grows during a Challenge, then sometimes shrinks a bit when individual choices are made to go "off the grid" when the team isn't in a Challenge. Definitely respect the independence of those who choose to be less visible for awhile...and delighted when they pop back into this rowing universe! I believe we mirror the new realities of teams and businesses in other parts of our world...perhaps we just have to live in the moment and develop an ability to chart our course towards our destination. As Baz says...it is all about the journey!

So get your jetpacks ready for continuing adventures in our rowing universe! Not only is the Calendar New Year coming up soon...it's the January Virtual Team Challenge. Sign on....sign on....sign on! The team roster is OPEN!!!
