LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

Bah. Miscalculation. Still have 186m to go until the 100k for the challenge. Oops. ![Embarassed ](./images/smilies/icon_redface.gif)

Meanwhile, Greg C's been rowing hard so that he can help with the overcrowding in the reindeer stable...and sure enough, once he hit the magic 100K...his reindeer was given free passage out of there!

I've got to go out of town for a few days. Will be back late on Sunday. Ron has graciously agreed to do the stats and herd management while I'm out of Reindeer Central. I'll be able to send some quick posts as I head across Nebraska in my trusty sleigh, but stats were not going to be possible. I'll be cheering you on towards more Concept2 donation levels! Had hoped to get my 200K before I left town, but alas...not quite possible. Rats. THANKS, Ron !

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I haven't been reading the forum for a few weeks - too many other things crowding my life this time of year. But I took a few minutes to review it today - what a great read! Our team is awesome in encouraging one another and at the same time sharing valuable information.
I want to weigh in on the heartbeat discussion. I'm naturally interested since huge portions of my life have been affected by abnormal heart issues. My cardiologist is also one who says "If you feel good - do it". Don't worry about the number. But I've found that "feeling good" is interpreted differently by different people. I don't feel good emotionally or phsychologically unless I've pushed my exertion to the point of physical strain. Physical strain at the time doesn't feel particularly good - it's hard. Doing 10 1,000m intervals at max effort does NOT feel good to me especially after #7. But when it's over I'm like a million bucks! You guys that do 100k in a day REALLY know what I'm talking about. If my goal during exercise is to feel good I'd leave the heart rate at 140bpm and call it a day. But that would not accomplish my ultimate fitness goals. I understand from crossfit that in order to train properly you must push your endurance and strength to its limit and little beyond and your body will respond by growing stronger for the next time. Believe it or not -this can actually be FUN! So I think we need to be careful how we interpret "feeling good". I'm not talking about chest pain and abnormal shortness of breath. I do know what those things are and they are NOT fun!
The LUNATICS exemplify committment to fitness. I'm really happy to be a member of this team.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Thanks for sharing that Ross, and I know you are a big fan of Cross-Fit (your Airforce son does it from memory??), and I must say I like the concept of it, but found it quite expensive. But I agree with your general sentiment; however my caveat would be to have regular heart check-ups just to make sure all is as it should be. I’m scheduled again shortly given my ‘statistic’ advances by one tonight!rsdavr wrote:I haven't been reading the forum for a few weeks - too many other things crowding my life this time of year. On another note, no rowing today, in fact I’m heading for the couch after posting this, not long back from a 27 kilometre bush run in the hills, and whilst a little slower than I would have liked I’m generally happy. I went along the Great North Walk (on our doorstep) and this section doesn’t really lend itself to running as such, it is kind of like one big work-out on a step machine! Just worked out I did around 1,700 metres of ascent, and the same descent, all up it took around 5 hours... The Speight’s will be similar, but should be able to run more in that so hopefully will be a better time...
Good weekend to all, and thanks to Ron for posting the stats!!
Cheers, BBB
