Today is Tris' 13th b-day and he is aiming for 13 K. This morning he popped over pre-breakfast to get an early start.
I told him I can't even imagine the changes and amazing things he has seen, having been born in the last century.

happy birthday tris.....and good luck jay.....

Happy birthday, Teenager Tris!

Someone recently recommended "Broken Hill," which I watched last night. Fun movie. (Though I was hoping to actually see something of Broken Hill. I'm sure it's changed since I was there.) Along the same lines, sort of, "August Rush" is an easy watch.
After watching "Broken Hill", I watched "August Rush" again a couple days later. "August Rush" is definitely one of my favorite movies.

I didn't post my meters yesterday, but I rowed an easy 20k. About 6 weeks ago, I rowed 25k a day for 4 days straight. It ruined me for the next few days. I don't know what happened between then and now, but I found some endurance I didn't know I had. This competition has changed from a physical challenge into a mental one. Just a couple weeks ago, my whole body was aching and tired. Now, my biggest challenge is continuing to make the big time commitment each day. I don't know if I'll go for over a million in a future challenge, but I'm glad to have the experience. It's interesting to see yourself go to a whole different level within such a short period of time. I'm just trying to keep taking this competition one day at a time.

Great rowing Brett and Ron, following waaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind your wakes.

Belated congrats on your 2m Rosi! I have a feeling you'll pass me in season meters at least a couple times before the season is over. You're very consistent, while I tend to go in spurts.

Ahoy-there TimbukToo'ians!

Just dropping by to say G'day - and keep up the good work!
As a "long-term" Lunatic, I still look at you guys as our yard-stick in these challenges. Forget total meters... that is really down to who jumps on board during the challenge (not sure why we have picked up so many this year??)

Well done, and go for it!!
Cheers,
Dave

This upset some of my teammates and I think they left boat. Some were wanting row for O D but Jim said row for Lun-Tics this year. I know I am mad.

I am afraid I agree with Rosita, kind of painful when you try and help the team.

Michelle and Rosi, I think you may have misunderstood the post Dave made. He isn't saying he doesn't want new teammates. Please stay with the team and ask the others to come back.

Trust is something that is built slowly. One of the things this team does best is support its team members, and recognize the accomplishments and contributions made by those team members. We don't just recruit rowers to join us in our adventures - we recruit teammates, because we want the whole person. I would bet that much has changed in the last year for almost every single team. We cannot change the hurtful things that occurred - we can only say that our intentions are to be respectful and supportive teammates to all who chose to row with us. I am certain that no disrespect to any team member here was meant in the acknowledgement of another team's efforts.

I agree. In the past challenges a number of LUNA-TICS have made an effort to post in our nearest competitors' forum Team Rooms offering encouragement and kudos for hearty competition and effort by all. It is a mark of good sportsmanship, and it is a way we can all spread our team values of encouragement and support to other members of the rowing world. We can be fiercely competitive and encouraging all at the same time, and that is one of the attractive things about our team. Assume the best of people, and overlook the worst, and look for ways to tell someone "good job!"

BTW, Rosita, great job on your new 2 mil! Way to row! You are an inspiration!

Exactly 14 days left in the Fall Challenge...might be just a trick of timing, but I do believe that Free Spirits shaved about 150K off the gap that existed. Be wary....when a team is in the "rabbit" position (that would be us), the hounds (that would be them) will be in hot pursuit. We are changing the historical order of challenge rankings with our current number two position in the rankings - so dig deep and stay focused on a fast-paced finish! Whoop, whoop and hooyah !

Total Challenge Meters = 13,714,422 m

Total meters rowed yesterday = 473,051 m

Percent of team rowing so far = 86 percent.....c'mon 90 ! Need five more people to find those ergs!

Here's a link to the individual contributions that make up that 13,714,422 m:

Way to row, Lunies !! 14 million is within the pull of a chain !

With 14 days remaining, we have 72 percent of the team well positioned to finish at least 100,000 meters in this challenge.

It's wonderful to see so many Lunies setting records and the team holding 2nd place in the challenge. I know that I cannot fully appreciate the way some of you are rowing way behond your normal daily output. And I know some of you are rowing with injuries and other inconveniences. Nevertheless, the results so far are AWESOME!!.

But...we are now in the final two weeks - and all of you know that now is not the time to coast to the finish after such a powerful start. Now is the time to row like we've never rowed before. When the British began boarding his ship for the capture, John Paul Jones said, "I have not yet begun to fight!". Now is the time to build toward the finish - and we must finish as strong or stronger than we started. We will not allow the teams below us in the standings to start catching up. Instead, we will pull further away from them. This is our year!

I am sorry that you, and some other teammates were made or upset by Dave's post.
I won't speak for Dave, but I personally felt that it was a very nice post. Showing nice sportsmanship - wishing your competitor good luck, especially as this is all for fun, even we still want to beat them. I think both teams have a lot of fun and camaraderie on the forum.
Also congratulations on the 2 Mm for the season! Are you aiming for at 4 for the year?

Sincerely,
David
