LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
The Million Meter Challenge Boat
Can't help but think we're going to have one or two more in this million meter challenge boat....really.
Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Kona2, I'll be travelling away for the week-end so no meters for me until Sun evening or Mon morning. It's good though because I got massive blisters on my back side from the 30k this morning. Will some of your duct tape work for that?Kona2 wrote:2 Free Spirits Virtual Club 19,659,571 160 122,872

19 Million....just one more entry.....and HAVK is closing the gap (they, too, have been known to do this..)

The Skinny on Seat Pads
Bummer (so to speak), Ross! Some rowers find that using seat pads are helpful during some of the longer rowing sessions. They provide a bit of cushion and certainly lessen the slip, sliding on the erg seat. I've heard of everything from using bubble wrap (all that snap, crackle and pop!) to some seat pads that are made just for the erg. About this time last year, I purchased a couple of different seat pads to try out so that I could either diss or recommend them. One is called "Sore No More" and is a sorbothane product. http://www.jlrowing.com/seat.html The other was the gel seat pad offered through the same web site (seems like this one was the option that floated - in case you were out sculling or the gym room was hit by a tsunami). Both of these products (and I am sure there are more on the market) do not require that the seat pad adhere to the erg seat -- many are using rowing machines at the gym, and that sure wouldn't work there!rsdavr wrote: ..... Ross
Other teammates did purchase similar products, so perhaps we'll hear what their thoughts are on the topic!

Congratulations, Kevin, on achieving the 200,000 m milestone and snagging a canoe paddle! May your canoe travel even more swiftly in these competitive waters! Woot!
New Team Member
Welcome, Helena, to the LUNA-tic team! You've joined us just as we're making our way towards a lunar landing. We're taking an orbit around the moon (about 11.5 MM meters), and then we'll stop and tour the moon for awhile before heading back to Earth. We wish you many hours of good rowing!

Seat paps
Once again, I provide my own seat pad, loving made from years of chocolate loving and child birthing. (and milk shakes, etc).
Seriously, I have not found the c2 seat pad to work for me. I do like using their rowing shorts that have a very thin double layer of lycra in them. Bike short's padding is never quite in the right place,
SOmetimes adjusting your foot angel helps too. I know in real crew, i used a seat pad as I have slightly longer legs in proportion to my upper body so they wanted me to be raised up a little
Congrats to all the big time rowers we have. I am looking forward to tang (and champaign) for our lunar landing. I hear the cheese is good there too.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Congratulations to the team for rowing so many meters during this challenge.
I am glad Dad pushed me into rowing, I love it.
I received my C2 1 million meter tee yesterday! Dad gave me his 10 mill sweatshirt, he wears Bobbie's. It really fits a man better. I have borrowed his 20 mill sports bag too many times to mention. Going to have to earn my own.
At Dad's house, we use old wheelchair cushioned seats. They work very, very well. He alternates them after a row or two and cleans the sweaty one. At the gym I use, they have the basic C2 pad. That works okay for me , but some people may find it too thin. Bike shorts really don't work because as was said, padding is in the wrong places.
I have the weekend off of work and am shooting for 100K each day I may be useless Monday at work though.
It is supposed to be 70 degrees today and there is a bike calling rather loudly to me. I guess I will ignore it one more weekend.

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
I was recently asked by a new team member just what our team distance goal was - and I provided the original goal established by Matt F - of to the moon and back. Matt still lists this in his team profile. I think it's safe to say that team goals can and do change with the nature of the team - and that having spent multiple years getting to the moon, few of us are really ready to just turn around and go home!Kristine Strasburger wrote:Heading back to Earth??? There are lots of moons, lots of planets. Astrogator glad to provide distance calculations!
