Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Reasonably good day, but not enough if we wish to overtake a few teams! We reached 7 million on Thursday – and even the 10th Place team hadn't reached 8 million yet, so we're THAT close... But, we're now in 15th Place, and will need a big final sprint to pass a few teams...
18 of 43 team members (42%) posted 206,881 meters Thursday, poised for a strong finish.
In alphabetical order, here are the posters:
Posted Meters:
Jamie B - 13,251
Fred B - 10,619
Douglas D - 12,500
Monica D - 12,011
Doug E – 12,968
Yisroel H - 12,513
Dennis H - 20,048
Chris H - 10,000
Heather R - 9,000
Matthew R – 14,033
Mark S - 5,223
Pam S - 4,849
Jeff S - 12,000
David W - 16,103
Joel W – 6,117
Raymond W - 6,265
Joseph W - 12,077
Glenn Y - 17,304
Dennis hit 5*0*0*K, David reached 350K, Glenn stretched to 250K, Jeff S hit 200K and Raymond hit 100K!
AS of Thursday's close, that was 2@500K, another 4 at 300K, 8 more at 200K, 6 more had reached 150K, and 8 more 100K. THAT'S 28 OF 43 WITH 100K OR MORE! AWESOME!

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Just shattered my PB again, this time going below the next psychological barrier of 6:45, and still have not needed the... ahem, biohazard... bucket, but there's always the CRASH-B's!damselfly wrote:Concept2 shared this article on Facebook:
Fighting the 'erg'
"Rowers had to maintain the stroke rate Carlson barked out, starting at 20 strokes per minute and ascending to 30, with the final interval an all-out sprint. (The fastest rower reached 44 strokes per minute.)"
Yikes! I can't imagine 44 SPM!
Oh, and I'm really glad I don't need to keep a bucket next to the erg.....
In the run-up to Saturday's Indianapolis Rowing Center C2 Regatta, the coach had those of us who can't make it on Saturday do our 2Ks. I came out of the starting gate too fast (even saw a 1:29 on my monitor), and though I was aiming for 1:41 splits, my first was at 1:37.0. But I survived (barely), and finished at 6:42.6 (copies to the C2 website as 6:42.7, so I must've been on the cusp), 6 seconds better than my 6:48.6 of 32 days before. That's a 17s improvement in 14 weeks of training! 3+ weeks to go!
And no, I can't imagine 44 long strokes a minute (33-36 is hard enough), are those incomplete 1/2 & 3/4 strokes?

Great graphic, need to keep that - with the Food Pyramid one - for the future!goyo wrote:Down to the last days of the challenge.
Finish Strong!
We had been #4 of the 50 teams with 20 or more rowers in meters-per-person - but we fell to 5th by a sliver yesterday!
Had a few more people done 17K like you did, Glenn, we would've held on. (Personally, it was a "hard day" for me yesterday - a 2K at PB speed, a 1K, and a 500m with 2K warmups and cooldowns - so those days don't pile on meters. It's my endurance rows - next should be 28K at 125-130 heart rate - that really add meters. Still, I'm glad I beat my month's goal... that would've been personally embarrassing if I'd fallen short while exhorting others to hit theirs.)
Yes, after-burner time has officially arrived!
Re: TimbukTOO Team Room
Argh, I have been hit by what we are calling "The Plague" at work... running rampant through departments. I'm hoping I feel well enough for at least one more row before the VTC is over. Has not gone as well as I'd hoped, but there is always March Madness! Plus, I'm like 25K away from my first lifetime million... feeling like crap is really aggravating!
Grats to everyone who's put up so many meters this month! Well done!!

Thursday was a big day for hitting personal milestones! Congrats, all! (I'll leave the wooting to Lisa, Queen of Woots.)
16 of our 54 esteemed members (30%) have posted 207,017 total meters, causing the ambulators on the river bank to put down their parasols and pick up their monocles!
Milestones achieved: Joseph W hit 1.6M, Jeff S hit 1.2M, Dennis hit 900K, Coach Mike hit 900K, Jamie hit 800K, David hit 800K (the race to 1MM will be hot for the preceding 4 + Tyrone, Raymond, etc.!), Joel hit 500K and Mark hit 250K!
Just you wait!: Yisroel now approaching 2M (-32,298m), Raymond right near 800K (-8,906m), Tyrone one day from 700K (-10,578m) [okay, I peeked - he made it!], if Chris misses 600K, he'll hold his breath till he turns (deeper) blue (-7,409m), Daiva close to 500K (-14,425m), Lisa's back strong enough for 400K (-2,896m), Glenn has a jump on 400K (-15,344m), while Pam pursues 150K (-1,957m)!

My January goal has been consistency: meters logged each day of the challenge. I'll rest on 2/1, but not as long as I did last year when spider webs formed between my C2's footrests.

I have really stepped up my game due to this VTC............but it sure feels great. I plan on reducing my meters to sane level next month!!

W00t W00t!! And an additional W00t to Izz for blowing away is previous PB!!Izzzmeister wrote:Thursday was a big day for hitting personal milestones! Congrats, all! (I'll leave the wooting to Lisa, Queen of Woots.)
Yesterday was rest day, and today I did a 4-mile hilly trail with my buds. But if I have some energy this afternoon I will try to put in a few meters. I have 23.5k to go to hit 200 for the challenge, 6k a day. Way doable.
I'll be cutting back to probably only 2 days a week after the challenge too. I'm starting to lose my running chops, and haven't done any strength training since around Turkey Day (I lack discipline, big-time!).

VTC Progress....
Avast me hearties! (I'm feeling pirate-y today I guess...)
A quick posting of today's meters before I have to vacate the premesis... A somewhat slow day in the VTC boat today, perhaps everyone is resting up for the final sprint this weekend!! We're still holding 15, but within easy spitting distance, so watch your back Coach Mike, biohazards may be flying!!
12 of 43 members logged 211,789 total meters (28% oars in the water). The good news is those that posted meters all posted really solid rows! Way to row, team!!
