5 MILLION METERS!!! TimbukTOO has passed the magical, mystical 5 million meter season mark. Way to row TimbukTOO! Yisroel has passed the 200K meter mark for this young season.
Welcome back our cyclist Michael. Glad to have you back with us :D

Stats for 6/13

Yisroel------------------15963
Audrene-----------------10000
Gerry---------------------6570
Chuck--------------------12500
Margaret----------------7730
Matthew----------------5000

Have a great day. If anyone has a rowing event or some new experience, or some other event you are participating in, please tell us, so we can cheer our teammates on. I am going to try and walk a 5K on June 26 for our local Brickfest ( we are the so called brick capital of the world) . My crutches are working great, just not sure if I want to leave Bobbie alone for the morning, but she may be more mobile by then.
Happy Flag Day to those here in the USA.

I really enjoyed rowing to the world cup matches. I found that I could row a 10km piece easily during a half. The time flies by quicker because the pace of the game is just right for a row. Not too exciting but constant motion to keep you distracted from the meters clicking off of the monitor. With South Africa being 6 time zones from the east coast, it puts most of the matches during the day. So if you row in the morning, you can catch the early games and there are games all of the way up to a 2:30 EDT game each day (at least during group play for the next couple of weeks).

That is a great idea Casey. Some sports I like to row to are baseball, football, and boxing. Boxing is very easy as the 3 minute rounds and one minute rest in between I row harder. I also like track and field but there are too many commercials.

Hi all,

In an earlier post I promised to report back on my latest hand protection find if they worked out. Well, they do... I was looking for something specifically to pad the base joints of my fingers, and all the biking gloves I looked at were lacking. Anyway, the marvels of the internet led me to these:
http://www.amazon.com/Premier-Blister- ... B0028Q3K92

In all fairness, after getting them and looking them over, I could probably have made them for much cheaper. It's just a thin pad with two loops of elastic sewn on the back. Two fingers each go through each loop, and the pad provides protection from mid-palm to just past the first knuckle joints in my fingers. Thought I'd post them in case anyone needed something similar. :)

Thanks Jim for the congrats on my first 100K for the season. I got off to a slow start in May, but now have my weekly meters over 20K and hope to keep it climbing going forward. I'm really looking forward to the new Dog Days of Summer August challenge to make those increased meters a habit.

Does anyone know if the "Summer Solstice" challenge is active this season? I see it listed in the general challenge list, but would have thought it would be on the logbook homepage as coming up. I need to know if I need to figure out how to fit a long row in on Monday. :)

I'm so excited. I rowed two 10km pieces over the weekend, a half marathon on Monday and then took yesterday off. I rowed a 30 minute piece this morning and blew my previous PB out of the water by over 200m!! I think that I can get to 7.500m by the end of the year, but I'd also like to get under 20 minute 5k and sub 7:45 2k. I guess if you always compete against yourself you will always be a winner!

Hello team,
I read Karen's post about hand protection. I use something similar to what Karen purchased, except it covers the whole hand. The pads attach with velcro to a wrist support band. You can order them with or without the elastic bands. Also when the pad wears out; it can be replaced. Anyway, here is the website if anyone wants to check it out.

Brother Jim,

I think it's GREAT that your grandbabies row with you and Bobbie! It should be an inspiration to all of us. They inspire me to be more consistent. I pray that Bobbie recovers from her surgery quicker than anyone thought possible. And thank you for putting in the time and effort to post our stats each day. You ROCK!
