wow denise...so glad that you are healthy again....WDDF wrote:Glad to be back, and hated being gone for so long. About late March, early April my energy level took a hugh nose dive. In May my rheumetologist was talking to me and then got this funny look on her face and asked "is your thyroid enlarged?" After normal blood work came back and a sonogram, I was sent for several needle biopsies (the first didn't work)-- and three days before a cruise to Alaska I was told I needed surgery. Was allowed to go on my trip (and got to kayak in Ketchikan). On my return I had a thyroidectomy in June. Left side was big, ugly and in last stage of cell change before cancer. The physicians tell me I am very lucky as the specialist thought it was cancer when he finished the surgery. Never had thyroid problems before and feel blessed that my rheumetologist was so observant. Glad to be able to get back on my C2 as I couldn't figure out how I was able to row 200,000 meters in late November and December and then was falling flat energy wise all of a sudden. Guess my body was trying to tell me something! Happy Denise in Wichita!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 7.09.09
Thanks for sharing your story and posting photo on the team page, Denise! Sounds like you have had two remarkable journeys! The Luna-Tic crew roster can and does change from time to time - and we don't always know the why. Doubly glad you are back on the roster of our rowing universe - and with a great reminder that the more we exercise on a regular basis, the more we are in tune with what can be a subtle change.

Woohoo! By the end of today's rowing (whichever hemisphere you're rowing in!), we will have less than one million meters to go to the halfway point in our journey to the moon! Some say it will be all a gravity pull to the moon from there!
Distance to the halfway point = 1,184,943 m
Season meters as of 70/365 = 17,458,515 m
Total meters on the day = 275,718 m
Oars in space = 34 percent

You wish to extract a posting!?? And, Danno, about the postings you don't want to keep....at the right of each posting that you personally post, you see quote edit and you should see a box with an x......clicking on that one will delete....but only you can delete it (unless it was something REALLY obnoxious and then I would ask the forum folks to nuke it....) Not that easy to do or explain I guess since I have edited this 3 times now...

The moon is lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to row before I sleep,
And miles to row before I sleep.
(with apologies to Robert Frost's memory!)
I was looking for fireworks to add my CONGRATS TO MILLION METER BAZ ... but found a moon instead, with a few stars that kind of remind me of the Southern Cross (give or take the extra star).
Thx for the cupcake, Kiba. Nice!

K2,
Thanks for the surprise party.
In honor of the day I become a legit Old Fart I rowed a smooth 6,565 while watching a tour of the Budweiser plant in St Louis.
I'll take my virtual pint at the Laurel's Pub in Killarney, Ireland.

For a virtual tour goto http://www.thelaurelspub.com/pub.html
And I'm inviting the whole team, except for the wee ones.
