Rapids
Kona2 - No rapids, but same adrenaline effect. I just haven't thrown in the towel yet on finishing in the top 100. And the horse race has started. BTW, I did a HM this morning the hard way --- on a Just Row effort that was going well after 75 minutes with a manageable heart rate and good output. I kept going and got lucky on the Stop on 21097 with a PB at 86 min 56.3 sec. The other thing that keeps my output up is trying to finish the year in the 10000 meter a day club, even though I won't be rowing the last week of the year. Tired Moose.
Congrats on the PB
Wowzer, Moose! Good job on the personal best for the half marathon! I am not that fast, but it is a nice distance for a longer row. Keep working on that top 100 - as you note, it is starting to get just a little bit more competitive now as everyone pulls out all the stops! Good to have a bit of a meter buffer for those down to the wire finishes!
We have a couple of movers and shakers on this team as well !

Going To Try 1/2 Marathon for the Team
I never did a 1/2 Marathon, but I guess you gotta try sometime. So, looking for encouragement and hoping others go out for a spacewalk with me this Tuesday. Mitch Friedland

Fun
Mitch - You can do it! I don't do HM's very often but when I do, I hold the same cadence I do for my usual rows, but ease off on the effort for the first hour by holding HR below 145. After that if you've got the energy, go stronger. A 90 minute video really helps.
Is anyone up for a water balloon fight aboard the ship after the WRC? Check this 6 month old NPR Science Friday video out.... Looks like it would be fun!

This morning while admiring Jan's great work at keeping the stats and cheering everyone on, I noticed that she is putting up some pretty good numbers herself. So I say three Cheers for Jan!

Count me in Moose. A water balloon fight in space sounds like a great way to celebrate all of our successes this season!

Re: Going To Try 1/2 Marathon for the Team
10-4, Mitch ... it's a spacewalk date ... I'll draft off of your HM on Tuesday and cheer you on from the rear. After being off the grid for a week, my 10K last night has made my every last muscle make themselves known today (apparently, long walks on the beach don't count) ... let's finish the WRC in a blaze of glory.bklynrower wrote:I never did a 1/2 Marathon, but I guess you gotta try sometime. There have been some brilliant accomplishments in the past few forum pages ... congrats, one and all.
Chris T
Congrats to Wild Bill on his one million(plus...) meter challenge! Awesome work there!
Nice to see you back on deck too Chris! Hope you had a good break. Did I read a while back that you didn't wear shoes while erging?
Crazy!
Last day for we Aussies tomorrow for the WRC, and then no participation from me for another week as I will be on a break here (fishing, relaxing etc.
)
I will be a late entrant for the Global Marathon Challenge... hopefully the blisters will be gone by then.
Row hard one and all!
Cheers,
Dave
