Getting back into a 1X after a long winter off

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

Getting back into a 1X after a long winter off

Post by bds323 » February 14th, 2013, 10:25 am

Hi all,

Just wondering, I will be officially getting back on the water in a little bit less than a month from today. Naturally, I'm a bit concerned to be getting back into a 1X - despite having fine-tuned my balance in the Fall, I feel as though I've lost my sense of equilibrium after a long winter on the ergs.

Do you all have any advice? Did you find that you had this problem when getting back on the water after a winter pause? The last thing I want to do is flip into the highly polluted river that we row on at university.

Thanks!

Sit quietly in the shell for a minute before pushing off, remember thumb pressure (which the erg doesn't), skitter your blades the first time out, and you'll be OK.
