Sliding towards recovery

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

Well, I was wrong!

We were out OTW last evening and I had a chance to look carefully at the seats in our boat. It wasn't one of the Kaschpers, but the seats were definitely set on SLOPING rails. So I have been wrong in my earlier posts.

Surprisingly however, when pushed to the bow end of the track and released the seats did not roll down the tracks sternward...as happens on the erg. Possibly the boat was not level on the tressel, otherwise a lack of maintenance of the boats must be to blame? And if it is lack of maintenance then that probably explains why the Kaschper seats don't slide either. And I will have to check again to see if they have sloping rails.
The slope looked to be enough to overcome any friction between the wheels and the track even if both wheels/track were in poor condition...but no...the seat "stuck" wherever it was placed.

The downsides of rec league rowing!
