Getting Back

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

Getting Back

Post by TIMEFOX2005 » May 4th, 2007, 1:41 am

Hello all,

This is my first time posting here so bare with me. I rowed for my college last year and am currently a senior working full time and continuing my full time education. I rowed last year and due to financial reasons i was unable to continue rowing because i had to work in the mornings by 8. But ive still got the bug and it wont go away, i have to get back out on that water. So i would like to go back to grad school, because rowing is a club sport i should be able to join then, and finish my passion. Does anyone have any pointers? Perhaps some things i should do now before i go in. Do i just call coaches at schools im applying to and ask them? For now i have a gym membership where i simply keep my times down, but i want to race. To me theres so much more to rowing than what an erg can offer. Like balancing a boat, and the sounds of the water beneath you. I have to get back.

Definitely check with the coaches at prospective schools, but also with the other clubs that may be in the area. If you want to learn to scull, it would make for a much more flexible schedule for you to practice if you have to work around a job and such.

All the best days begin on the water. :)
