Open Water Boat for Clydesdales?
I am a newbie to sculling. I practice with the local rowing club in a four-person shell, and I'm looking to purchase my own single. 6' 7" and 290-ish means a racing shell 1X isn't an option for me. I have been looking at pre-owned open water shells, but not really interested in whitehalls or wherries. At this point, it appears to me that the only real open water option is an Alden Ocean 18 fitted as a single. Are there other open water shell 1X options out there that I'm missing? Thank you for your feedback and help.

Try Edon, Echo, or Peinert Zephyr. Paul Milde at Peinert will let you know if you are too big for the Zeohyr.

I forgot to mention any of the many FISA compliant coastal water racing boats. Swift, Wintech, and others all make these boats. For a high end alternative see https://nextboatworks.com/
