First time oar buyer

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

First time oar buyer

Post by Bd108 » March 22nd, 2016, 7:47 pm

I recently bought a single/solo coastal scull and need to get some oars for it. I've never bought oars before and am not sure how to choose what I need in an oar. Any help would be much appreciated.

You may get a useful, informed response on this subforum, but the main forum itself is mostly for those who "row" mostly on the indoor machines. You would probably get a much broader response on a forum devoted completely to folks who row on the water. If ;you haven't already done that, you might try this one: http://community.row2k.com/forum.php

Consider Drehers Apex-R, made for rougher water. http://www.durhamboat.com/sculls_other.php
I own two Maas24s and use these oars offshore here in Honolulu.
