Edon TS 515

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

Edon TS 515

Post by remarkymarkable » September 7th, 2014, 5:35 am

Hi, I just bought an Edon TS 515 training boat and have been
out OTW 9 times with it. All I can say is WOW! Such a thrill to
get off the erg and actually be on the water.
This boat is great for anyone looking to try sculling for the first
time. It has pontoons under the riggers for stability, is made of
polyethylene so it is almost indestructible, it really accelerates
the learning process for newbies like me and is relatively inexpensive.
If you are looking for a first boat to try sculling, check out the Edon.

There is a new Edon at our boathouse in Haverhill Mass US. It doesn't have any markings on it so it took me a long time to figure out what it was. Making it out of polyethylene was a great idea because the boat is relatively lightweight and indestructible like a plastic kayak. However it probably is less stiff than a fiberglass or carbon shell and the forces on a rowing shell are much higher than a kayak. Let us know how it goes as your rowing progresses.

Hi Paul, that Edon in your boat house is mine! I joined Ebb Tide after I bought the boat.
I've been rowing about 4 times a week up to the pair of bouys upriver and back. I added
some mirrors on my riggers after rowing square into a boat dock! Since then, things are
going really well. I'm very happy with the Edon. Mark G.

I've had an Edon for just over 2 years down here in FL and am loving it. I row pretty well every other day 4.3 miles. Fitted a Speedcoach. I YouTubed the whole learning process (21 days) before removing the stabilisers here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0KSWln ... zSRbGIcqGg
Great boats.

I am looking for a used Edon boat, close to Tampa Bay area. I am hesitant to buy a new one without trying it first. The reviews from beginners are great but I wonder how good the boat is for experienced rowers. I am an experienced rower but I train in an area where there are many rocks and oyster banks, so spending $10k on a racing shell may not be a good idea.

They row like a racing boat but a bit slower, they roll like a racing boat as well so the feedback is similar. Track well and are fast for their size. I row a Vesploi in the summer and my Edon in the fall to extend the season until the ice takes over the lake, then it comes out again first chance of spring. I tried to find a used one but like hens teeth which I think is a good sign

Anyone seen/have experience with the rotomolded poly construction "Wavecutter" recreational single from Race 1 in Sydney, AU? Supposed to be at HOC this year. Longer than the Edon Waterdart at 19.5' OAL. Designed to be a little more of a duck in open water. US distributor in Ithaca NY. Jack

240lbs is the design max but they will be OK with a bit more than that
