Fairbairnism

No, ergs don't yet float, but some of us do, and here's where you get to discuss that other form of rowing.

Fairbairnism

Post by brad_herring » January 22nd, 2015, 9:57 pm

Novice sophomore in high school. I find that instead of trying to get my blade as far away as possible and coming up the slide as far as possible like coaches say and making the stroke 'robotic' if you will, that if I just imagine the most effective and powerful way of sending the boat going the farthest, I get more of a water rush and quiver. I also find it feels more comfortable, but my coaches get mad because I don't lean into my rigger as much or reach as far, yet when I do what they say, my posture and power feel very weak and the balance of the boat goes out the window (usually bow seat in 8, 4+, 2x, also row the 1x).
