Low Pull

I see a lot of rowers here have their "low pull" identified in the signature line.

Where do people get that value from?

Is it recorded on the logcard? Is it from just doing one pull? or do they just remember it as it flashes by on the PM screen?

It's a) totally pointless b) puts your lower back at risk and c) doesn't give you anything other than a useless number to brag about.

If you want some science to record low pull dowload PMI from http://www.concept2.co.uk/software/pmi.php as the sample spreadsheet included with that excellent software package includes a LOW PULL log.

I am a lower back casualty from a LP attempt. Never again and I always start my 500's out "easy".

I agree that it is largely useless. But I do find it a bit fun.

2whlrcr, it sounds like you were not warm and pulled to hard in the beginning? There is another test called "first pull" which I consider more dangerous; ie. how low can you get your first pull from standstill. Is that what you did?

I have got my low pull readings pretty far into sessions. Just sped upp to see how low I could get the splits. I see no major risks with that approach.

I was warmed up adequately. But I pulled to hard on my first pull.
