Shock Cord?

Post by Kangaroo » April 8th, 2007, 10:47 am

On the ergos at the gym that I use (Model C) - the chain that connects to the handle seems kinda loose on some of the ergos that are there. ie: When you recover it "bounces" or "waves." I know that my technique is perfect and I'm not recovering too quickly as at school I'll use our Model D ergos and they'll be fine as well as on the water training - there is no rush in my scull. So, if the gym management had to tighten the shock cord, would the tension on the chain increase and stop that bouncing of it during recovery?

Yes, and they are very easy to adjust.

Will this increase resistance or not? - will the drag factor on level five (lets say) be the same with less tension on the shock cord as with more tension on the shock cord when the damper setting is still on level five

(Just thought of that now) :D

Tightening the shock coard will increase the resistance slightly, but not the resistance from the fan.

If you get the shock cord too tight then it will be hard to pull. But you need to have it tight enough to get up to the cage, and to be in a good position to overcome the resistance from the fan.

Just tighten the cord enough so it stays up to the cage - but no more than that.
