Best Rug/Mat For Concept 2 Noise Reduction

Post by juan-john » February 20th, 2011, 8:11 pm

I just bought a condo that has these beautiful hardwood floors. Can anybody suggest a good rug or mat that can help dampen the noise/vibration of my Concept2 Model D and thus hopefully keep the neighbor one floor below me happy?

Thanks!

What do you think of using one of those "Gel Mats" that are used in *** DELETE - SPAM ***? They are water proof, easy to clean, have a non-slip bottom and provide a degree of isolation so that any vibration in the erg is not transferred to the floor.

My erg is on carpet, so I usually just put down a big towel, but if I was on a floor, that would be my first idea.

I have mine on hardwood floors with a 2x2 children's foam "puzzle" tile under each end. Some noise reduction but all reports are you can hear me downstairs. At least its all in my house.
I might look for some "isolation" mount foam next time I'm at my Heating supplier and try that.
