Wow. I just got back from my maiden voyage on a model D, so when I saw your topic, I was sure you'd be ranting about the PM3. *Very*Very*Very*Frustrating*.

You can't view the drag and pace at the same time????? Then the numbers on the flywheel are invisible without binoculars, and I had to unstrap my feet every I wanted to change the damper, because the lever was so far away (please don't anyone come along and advise me to row strapless!). How can one find an advantageous df if she can't see the drag and pace simultaneously, or change the setting while rowing? ARGHH.

Nor could I figure out how to change the splits to 500m from the 400m which seemed to be the default for a 2k. In the end though it didn't matter, because I couldn't find the splits anyway. The first button I pushed zeroed out the monitor (OH NO
) and each subsequent button brought up pace boats and graphs and I don't know what none of which had anything to do with my workout. *Very*Very*Frustrating*.

I had printed out the PM3 manual (well, printed out both English language pages) to take to the gym and still couldn't figure any of this out. Why can't C2 LABEL THE BUTTONS??????
Or explain in the manual how to set up and recall a workout? IT IS NOT OBVIOUS
!!!!!!

Hope I have a helpful lane minder at the Bs.

And have a nice day >>>------> Kinley. Very frustrated.

This is a lot like the scullers saying of "If you haven't flipped, you haven't sculled."

If you haven't tried to change the shock cord on a Model A or B (especially in the "Pre-Skewer" days) you haven't changed a shock cord!

The model C and D are pretty much no brainers, by comparison, and not likely to end up flinging pulleys and small required bits all over the place.

What is most required is a second set of hands to help out on the early models, a lot of patience, and peferably a clean room with no place for small parts to hide when things go wrong. (and eye protection)

As for the PM3 complaints, it sure would be nice if the DF was displayed just like the PM2 (in the HR box when no HR receiver is being used), obvioulsy they saw fit to write a piece of venue code to do this, how about porting that over to the regular firmware? It's merely a convenience factor for me, since it would eliminate a lot of extra button presses just to get the darn DF. And it would eliminate a lot of frustration for first time users trying to find it. I see no reason why Pace needs to be displayed while adjusting DF, but since one person has mentioned they do, the solution is obvious, put it on the main screen. 8)

Summary of the PM3 manual: "Just press the buttons until you figure it out. It's intuitive." ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)
