I'm going to be moving to a new apartment in a few months, and one of my requirements is that it be able to fit an erg on slides. The Concept2 site says the slides take up a space of 12' x 4'. Is this figure accurate? (I know for the amount of space the site says I'd need for the erg, the spec on the site is less than what the erg actually takes up).<br /><br />Thanks!

The slides are each 56" long and they say to keep them 18" apart.<br /><br />This is 130" or 10 feet and 10 inches.<br /><br />You might need more room than that, depending on if you have considerable layback beyond the back feet of the erg.

<br />If you (accidently) slam the erg all the way forward, the nose of a model C will extend about 3 inches beyond the front of the slides. So no closer to the wall than that unless you're into patching plaster. (i.e. add 3" to the 130"). Slides are 24" wide.<br /><br />Layback shouldn't be an issue, unless you're laying back at the catch instead of the finish.<br /><br />

Not that half an inch will make that much of a difference.

The width is dependent on how much room you need for elbow clearance, and that would depend on how you are built. Unless you do something very bad, no part of your body should ever extend beyond the end of the Slides when they are properly set up level. i.e. the seat moves very little, relative to the ground.<br /><br />The "plaster patching" tip was good, if you think there may be a danger of that impact, get yourself once of those large stick on wall protectors designed to keep doorknobs from damaging walls, it will provid a bit of additional resistance to damage. Use a temporary adhesive though so you don't get dinged for ripping the paint off the wall when you move. <br />

Thank everyone! I'll have to make sure I don't wreck the wall (somehow I think a new landlord wouldn't be too thrilled about that )

how are the slides treating you? i used them once a long time ago, i seemed to have forotten the feeling. do they give a better work out? or is it just for an on water feel?...
