I got my own Concept2 (D model) and was wondering: Does the PM3 warn you about maintenance? I know about the 50/250 hour rules, but does the PM3 count total mileage and warn me with a “service” sign, kinda like a car?:-)

/Anna
Hi Anna, The PM3 does not give you a service due warning. Just wipe down the monorail after each use and lube the chain every 50 hours. Under home use you should get a lifetime of rowing out of it. JonW

Well, yes. I have replaced many of those as well - hated the job. With several of those button type cells to replace, it was both expensive to replace them and tedious to get them in and out. I am pleased to see that the PM3 uses D cells. That should be much more convenient. Before we got into miniaturization (about 1960?) D cells were the only small "batteries" that most people ever saw. I don't think that I even knew then that they were called Ds, and certainly not that there were also Cs, As, and AAs, etc. BTW, has anyone ever seen a B cell?

Rollers, I should probably replace. Mine make odd clicking sounds at times. I think I have a new set of them around somewhere that I bought years ago, but I have no idea where they got squirreled away. The seat, fortunately, is still in good shape. I don't know what the replacements are like, but, many years ago, when I tried out the new Cs that my old club had just acquired, I was very disappointed to find that the seats were much less comfortable that the seats on the Bs. I worry once in a while about the bungee cord, but it seems to have survived the several years it had of SoCal smog. Now it just has to put up with Owens Valley dust.

regards,

Bob S.

You can find the manual somewhere on the website... Can't remember where, but I remember coming across it.

Kind regards
Anna
