I like the length of the Model D handle, but after using it for a few months, I went back to the original wooden handle. I didn't like the grips on the Model D handle and after some effort, I replaced them with the grips used on the wooden handle. I think they were an improvement. However, I never could get used to the slight downward angle of the new handle. It just didn't seem as comfortable to me as the straight handle. However, the older handle is a bit too short for me. Since C2 does not make a longer wooden handle, I'm looking into have one made that's similar to the original but about four inches longer. If it the cost of a custom handle is reasonable, I'll probably have one made.

I wonder how many people have have had their handles modified or replaced by custom models.

See posting #10 in the thread on the new D-handle. I'd bet there are others. Oh yes, I remember a long time ago someone used a seat from a Thys rowingbike on his Concept 2 and had a customized handle.

There was an earlier thread on some earlier versions of custom-made handles that I made. My current handle is made from a handle bar for a mountain bike and homemade D-grips.

Byron
