I just got the heart monitor in the mail and am having issues. I got the polar strap and in the envelope they sent the thing that plugs into the PM3. I only get a heart reading if im almost on top of the black square thing that plugs into the PM3. Once I move back at all it drops the heart beat icon on the PM3. Anyone know what the problem is here?

Thanks in advance.

Oops I put this in the wrong place. I have the same problem, I lose the HR and it goes blank. My Polar M52 on my wrist is receiving properly.

You could try different positions for the receiver under the slide, or try putting the receiver out from under the slide and on top of a small box or something, as close to you as you can get.
Also, I didn't have much luck with the chest strap that came with my model D. No matter how tight I made it, it kept slipping down and ended up around my waist. I went to a local bike shop and got a wider chest strap. It works better and stays in place, but I still get an occasional dropout.

Byron
The heartrate receiver has a maximum range of 30 - 32" from the heartrate transmitter belt when the receiver is in the "optimal" orientation to the belt. See the Jan 29, 2005 post by me (http://concept2.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=339) for the specifics of the receiver orientation. In order for the heartrate signal to be received successfully during a workout, the receiver must be postioned as described in the post. Computers and other electronic devices creating interference at the same frequency used by the heartrate transmitter belt will further reduce the effective range if located too closely.

Repost after reviewing this information and let me know if things improve for you.

I bought my C2 heartrate monitor in February, and it "hadn't missed a beat."

I installed it according to the instructions that came with it.

I also rinse the electrode part of the chest belt with tap water, and leave it west, before putting it on. It's snug enough that it never moves.

Hope this helps...
