Hi, all. I need some help with my C2 Model C. It gathered dust for the last five years, and I've recently started using it again. Unfortunately, I get a clacking sound from the seat. I've cleaned the rail and rollers, but it didn't help. It seems to be coming from the top rollers, and is more pronounced when I weight the ride side of the seat. It sounds to me like a bearing that has gone bad. Is there a simple fix for this or do I need to replace the rollers? Thanks

I did that, already. It didn't help. I should mention that I can't remember whether it was doing this when I last used it 5 years ago. It may not be a new problem.

Hi Karl,

I had the very same problem recently. It's amazing, isn't it, how much noise a C2 can make. My rower has a lot of meters on it, so I decided to replace all the rollers. I received the new parts in two days, and they solved the problem. If I remember correctly, total cost was slightly over $30.

But here's a trick that occurred to me that might save you any cost. I should confess that I didn't do it; I already had the new parts. But I will do it the next time my rower starts banging and clanking. It is very easy to remove the seat and rollers. (If I can do it, anyone can.) Simply take off the back leg of the rower. There are 4 bolts that come out easily with the right-sized Allen wrench, then the leg pops off and -- if you don't catch -- the seat does, too. You can then remove the rollers & clean same. I was amazed how much grit my old rollers had accumulated. I think a good cleaning might be the answer. If not, or if you don't want to bother, order new rollers and get ready to enjoy peace and quiet.

Hope that helps.

Dennis

I put more than 20 million meters on the smaller model B rollers and no problems.

You might have a piece of hard salt or dirt on the rollers.

Taking the rollers off and cleaning them should help greatly.

Keep a few drops of oil on the railing.

Then any time anything gets on the railing, wipe it off right away with a paper towel.
