Will C2 "factory Refurbish" Model C's?

A health club in our area is going out of business. They have 3 Model C's all in need of a good cleaning, new chain, shock cord, and seat rollers. Does anyone have any experience with sending such a unit back to C2 for refurbishing?<br><br>Thanks in advance.

I never sent my erg back to C2, but I did order the Model D upgrade and replaced the chain, sprockets and handle myself. It takes about an hour and is fairly easy to do if you follow the directions and watch what you're doing. I haven't tried the seat rollers, but I can't imagine it being that hard. Add some cleaning and the ergs should be in pretty good shape afterwards.<br>

I changed the chain, shock cord assembly, and replaced the 13 tooth sprockets on my model B with 14 tooth sprockets, to match the model C drag factor etc.<br><br>This took a few hours, mostly because I'd not done this before, and also being curious how everything worked inside.<br><br>I'd recommend changing the sprockets when you change the chain. This might not be necessary but rowing will be smoother if you do.

UK C2 sell refurbed machines for £600, which is about right price. Not sure where they get them from, nor their approach to 'servicing'.<br><br>I am taking my machine over there tomorrow as it has a bit of vibration at high speeds (I wish!!!).....it's all relative. From talk on the phone they are well geared up to swopping bits over to track the problem down.<br><br>Should get to try a model D as well whilst I am there<br><br>Paul

Sorry this is a UK answer but am sure US do same.<br><br>Over here they do buy up ex gym machines (usually as part of a trade in package on upgrades to Ds). Replace all bearings and wearing items and then sell direct with a limited warranty.<br><br>

One of the top priority goals of the Indoor Rower development is to make it durable and easy to work on when something goes wrong. The most common wearing components (chain, sprocket, bungee and seat rollers) can all be affordably replaced by anyone with some mechanical know-how. We handle most mainteneance problems via phone or e-mail, and provide written instructions with spare parts. <br>Buying up and rebuilding used machines has not been offered at the USA factory, though some of our dealers do have such a program.<br>Factory tours are usaully available in the summer on Tuesdays at 2:30 or by appointment.
