Hi everyone.

I would like to thank you again for being nice to me in your posts.

I have been around the block with racing. My motivation now is to provide for my family by making people enjoy rowing well and for a lifetime.

I got my knowledge from coaches I really respect and thank for having helped me get a few times to the top.

A good friend of mine is Rob Waddell. If you ever want to have us come to your neck of the woods let us know. We had a great time running the training camp in Newport Beach.

All the best and keep on rowing.

XENO

I think most here understand that coaching is your living now and would not want to take advantage of that by imposing ourselves upon you incessantly for advice, but the ability to interact with someone who has been there and done that and is 'champion' person as well makes this a great place and special place to be.

For me the little insights you offer and the thing like the programme you posted as a build up to racing are things to be treasured, dissected and discussed. Just keep doing what you are doing, and good luck with your future endeavours.

regds George

ps I would just like to say to the many other knowledgeable people who offer free considered advice here based on personal experience and in some cases many years experience in the sport be it competing or coaching, you to are appreciated by many (or at least me )

Only been doing this a while, but it's guys like you and Redgrave who make me want to get out on the water or hit the gym. Good luck with everything!

Agreed Xeno ... your positive attitude and pleasant disposition, as well as your humility, are a standard for us all. And, we all want to emulate your stroke, which is marvelous. I cannot wait to meet in person at the Iron Oarsman. Hopefully, shortly after the racing season ends here for me ... March 5th ... thank you.

Xeno,

While I haven't met you personally it is obvious from your postings that you are very approachable. I have also been to the CRASH-Bs for the last 3 years and have had the opportunity to meet some of the top rowers in the world. What a great sport this is where the best rowers are willing and take the time to talk to and advise people at all levels in the sport.

Thanks you for being a great role model.

Frank

Xeno: you are great for the sport! Thanks for all your posts. Have you ever considerd on-line coaching? I live way to far from costa mesa to work out with you at the Iron Oarsman but would love to be able recieve the benefit of your wisdom in a coaching capacity. I will be in Manhattan Beach this summer and will come and work out with you at least once! Thanks again.

There, down the page a ways, you can choose affiliation. Xeno's is "Iron Oarsman" under the "Virtual" grouping. I would join it myself, but my little club needs my meters.

Xeno,

I'd like to second Spectre's thought. I've already taken more than my share of space on this forum and your blog, and still have questions. I also have wondered about how feasible it was for you to do part-time, remote, a/o online coaching. Is there room in your schedule to say: look at and evaluate webcam clips of erging, look at lactate profiles, ergmonitor profiles, suggest long and short term strategies? On an hourly, monthly, or even in some cases an annual basis?

Hope to visit you as well sometime. Maybe when at the Masters SW Finals in Long Beach this summer (if they're there).

- Doug

Thanks Xeno for your contributions. You have reached the pinnacle of rowing performance, yet have remained so approachable. It is quite an honour for all of us that you are a member of this forum!

All the best!

P.S. I really like your DVDs, they have been very helpful!

P.S. I really like your DVDs, they have been very helpful!
[/quote]

I second Francois. In about 3 weeks with the DVD, I got 3 PBs, dropping my 2k time about 21 sec., my 6k time about 13sec., and added about 150m for my 60'. Great stuff.

Dave G

Great great great.

Thank you for this feedback.

I have been tossing around ideas on how to provide for the family.

The blog is great because it is a good platform for communication and spreading information through search engines.

A cool feature on this concept2 forum is that you can see who freshly joined and I get to introduce myself.

In the end a partial business goal is to produce indoor rowing workouts via podcast or DVD. I figured that giving individual attention is extremely hard and expensive for the rower who is being coached.

The beauty about starting a business in the United States is that there is a huge market. Forget Switzerland with its handful of helvets.

All the power to you to hammer away for information through my blog. Also I am close to having fixed my webcam.

I got to go, Christopher wants to have lunch.

Thank you all for your support. I on my side enjoy supporting others to become healthier and happier through rowing, the great thing is that it is realistic!

All the best,

XENO

Does anybody else have problems accessing their personal profile?
I am trying to join the Iron Oarsman as member 200 but cannot display my personal profile ("page not found")?
Xeno-

I wanted to add my voice to the chorus of folks who greatly appreciate all that you have done for rowing throughout your career and your thoughtfulness and generosity on this forum. While I'm sure that there are elite oarsmen and scullers who lack the qualities of generosity, love of the sport, and humility that you embody I am yet to meet them. I truly honor that you as a world champion and olympic gold medalist so clearly value being a good person and giving back to the sport on all levels.

Hats off to you!

David
