I joined this forum a couple of weeks ago and haven’t had much to say but I thought I might as well introduce myself. I am 53, a lightweight (in rowing), and have been running and bicycling for the past 30 years. I started rowing a month ago when I joined a gym and have rowed 120 k since then. My best distance for 30 minutes is 6734 m and my best time for a 5k is 21:59. I have a long way to go before I hit the 50th percentile for my age and weight. I’m going to start the interactive 2k program this week and hope to have a respectable 2k time one of these days.

Thanks to the participants of this forum who have given advice on training and technique.
I am hooked! While most of my runs averaged 60 minutes and went as high as 2 hr. 15 minutes, I have yet to row longer than 8K on the rower. It kicks my butt!

I was a runner for the last 17 years and hope to get back into it by March at which time I will use the rower to crosstrain.

At 38, I think most of my personal best times in running are behind me but one of the exciting things about the rower is that I have many PB's to look forward to!
Welcome Tanners and RowtheRockies.
More members from a running/cycling background. Aerobic fitness should be quite good. Make sure you check out that runners thread in General.

John
