I got one of these for christmas, you can find them on www.powerbreathe.com

has anyone ever used them? I got the red one, it seems to work pretty well...it definitely makes it harder to inhale and i can feel my lungs being exercised...

just wondering if anyone has used them and gotten any results

This is an area of curiosity to me an I hope that you report back on your experience.

Given these Definitions and Facts:
Lung Volume
Total Lung volume
Vital capacity - total amount of air that can beexpired after a maximum inhalation
Residual volume - air that remains in lungs after maximum exhalation

Vital capacity
Tidal volume - amount of air breathed in and out during normal respiratory cycle -typically 10 - 15% of vital capacity
Inspiratory reserve - maximum air inhaled after tidal volume
Expiratory reserve - maximum air exhaled after tidal volume

With a typical use of only 15% of our Vital Capacity, it would seem that we have been sufficiently overengineered to take on considerable respiratory demands without any special training.

I'm not sure who told me this, but it's often easy to get caught up in breathing in deeply during exercise, when what we should be doing is making sure we get a good exhale.
