Leaving aside the issue of active or passive rests for the purpose of this discussion, the most common way of determining the duration of the rest period during intervals is one governed by 'time'. However it is has also been proposed that one can use HR and that a rule of thumb would be to wait till HR returns to 2x's RHR.<br /><br />The duration of the second method of course would vary I would think on a number of factors not the least being the number of intervals completed be it 3, 4, or 5 - extending ...... (I guess your views on the second method may in some part be dictated by your overall views on HR as a valid training tool)<br /><br />I would be keen to hear peoples thoughts on the matter and maybe experiences.<br /><br />Tks George
