Hi,

I'm pretty new to all this - rowed my first 60 minutes last week (13125m) but the last 15 minutes of the row my buttocks became painful, I think through pressure, not through muscle pain.

Is this something that eases the more you row - like saddle soreness becoming a thing of the past if you cycle frequently? Or is it just something you have to live with? And if so, any remedies/palliatives?

Thanks in advance.

I got a lot of pain for my two half marathons (Good Friday and 29th April) and full marathon (17th April).

http://www.concept2.co.uk/shop/seat_pad_deluxe.php may help. Other than that, on the UK Forums, bubble wrap or two small folded towels has been suggested as a solution. http://www.concept2.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7505

Copywriter,

I feel your pain but (no pun intended) rather than rehash what has been discussed many times in the forum I'd like to suggest a search on "seat pad." You will find ideas for extra padding or learning to live with the problem. I've been rowing for 2.5 years and 6 million meters including 4 marathons and still cannot row for more than about 20 minutes without a good seat pad.

My favorite one is one that I've custom fit from a backpacking waffle sleeping pad. I tried towels and bubble wrap with some success but this pad has been doing the job for over a year.

Frank

check out this product

http://www.harpermotoguzzi.com/seat_gel_pad.htm

It is high tech and expensive.

I used lots of products to solve this problem and they all work to some degree. I can tell you the problem goes away at about 750,000 meters.
