Hello,

I'd like to know what drag factor you find yourself most comfortable with?

The machine I erged on today had a drag factor of 105 with the 4 damper setting.

Moreover, with what drag factor is one most likely to break 6 minutes on the 2k?

Comfort and the erg never struck me as being a likely association I must say..

As to breaking any particular time, afaik the DF's got nothing to do with it. However if you work on technique and train hard for a few years, you may find a connection.

OK, so I think I have found my "sweet spot". A drag factor of 95 feels really good and seems to be where I perform best. My workout consists of an 8k followed by some upper body lifting followed by a 2k, and 95 feels just right. It's just enough resistance so that I've got something to push against, and yet not so heavy that I'm breaking my back during the workout.

What drag factor do you perform best on?

I've plotted my PB drag factors on a chart, and compared this to Eskild Ebbesen's drag factor of 117-120. This gives me a chart of all drag factors as related to the speed and resistance of the flywheel, i.e. pace, as follows:

2:20 76
2:15 79
2:10 82
2:05 85
2:00 89
1:55 92
1:50 97
1:45 101
1:40 106
1:35 112
1:30 118
1:25 125

I have used a drag factor of 75 for the marathon, and 109 for 500 meters.

My usual drag factor is 80-95, depending on the speeds in the chart.

Rowed my best 2k (6:18) at DF 138. When I just bought the C2 the DF was at position 5 and I left it there (didn't know anything about df back then). This was too high because I injured both of the bicepses and couldn't row for a year or so.

Jaap
