I was training for a running marathon until I realized my achilles tendon was too out of sorts to continue. I know I can swim and cycle, but does anyone know if erging will exaggerate the injury? I would love to get my rowing form back after a few years diversion to running events.

I am no expert on this. This is just my experience.

About six months ago, I agitated my achilles tendon on a treadmill. Didn't really notice anything until the next day. Lots of stiffness. I talked with runners and they told me to ice it and streach it when warmed up. I tried some of this... prob not enough though. Just kind of a nagging thing that just wouldn't go away.

Anyway, I was a bit worried how rowing would affect it. Well, I am happy to report that I have noticed a great improvement in the two weeks I have been rowing. I been rowing at least 5000m a day and achilles has not felt this good in 6 months. Very little stiffness or soreness.

I suspect that it has something to do with working it out a bit. So maybe try some easy rows to ease it in... see how it feels? Like I said I know nothing about all this, but mine feels great.

Best of luck.

RoCKo
