Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone can direct me to information regarding the wattages produced at lactate threshold by elite rowers? LT is sometimes also referred to as anaerobic threshold....

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Thom

Typically LT actually refers to something different to anaerobic threshold though. What do you want to know?

Mel

Hmmm, good question, you would probably get more answers if you asked about average paces for 500/m not too many rowers on here use watts and not many elite rowers use watts as their preformance feedback. I have no idea how it converts, I'll let you figure it, but John Rupps Hero does 1:40 avg/500m for an hour. I'm assuming but I don't know for sure that most of that was above LT but just barely. His LT 500/m is probably between 1:41-1:42. Xeno just did a marathon at 1:45 somethin which is probably mostly below LT so his is probably 1:38-1:39. If Xeno or John Rupps Hero is reading they can speak for themselves. It is really all speculation unless it comes from the horses mouth anyway. Everyone, including elites are different, some of them are just really good at 2ks so their LT ranges may seem quite average, and some are just genetic freaks and can go forever at different distances and so on.

The 500 meter time (SecPer500) to Watts conversion is done by

Watts = 2.8 / (Power(SecPer500/500),3))

So 500m time 1:40 = 2.8 / (0.2*0.2*0.2) = 350 Watt

The suggested AT training pace in the C2 trainiing guide for someone doing a 6 minute 2k ranges from 358 watts to 408 watts.

AT workouts in the guide typically are intervals in the 7- to 10-minute range.

Wattage for UT1 workouts range from 311 to 358. These are longer intervals: 13-20 minutes.

Tom
