Training

Have been reading a book or two on developing a winter training program using the erg for next springs rowing season. I am 53 and have been rowing for 3 years. It is time to really get serious and work on a serious training program.<br><br>Any thoughts or suggestions? <br>

I've found just jumping on and pulling for 30-40 minutes a day to be serious enough. Especially if I try to stay above 9 Wmin per stroke. It's not unlike a single if you keep the df high. At least you'll be able to concentrate on the blades when you do go afloat.

Marc,<br> If you would like a very specific training program tailored for you, you might consider hiring someone like Marlene Royle to develop an erg/weight training program for you. She is the program director for the Craftsbury Sculling School. I know Xeno has classes that he teaches at his studio, but don't know if he also does personal programs.<br>~Grace

take a look at the interactive program on the British C2 site. I just started rowing last year indoors, did a lot of long easy rowing and short fast pieces near races. This worked pretty well. I wanted to try something with more structure and I'm finding this interactive plan difficult, i.e., I'm feeling my thighs later in the day. My pulse in the am before getting out of bed is lower so I am convinced this plan is doing something. We'll see at races.<br>good luck,<br>Hank
