<br> I just started working out on my new concept 2 rowing machine. I like it very much. When I row, I feel that my arms, back and thighs work a lot. The thing is my boyfriend works out on my concept2 and tells me: ''it is only the legs and butt muscles that work out''.<br><br> I know that man are from march and women from venus...but is there a difference in the way we row too?!

You can tell your boyfriend that there are alot more muscles being used than just the legs and butt.<br><br>The back, shoulders, arms and forearms all come into play at the end of the drive. I do believe that with the exception of swimming, rowing/erging uses the most muscle groups of any other exercise. I agree with Dwayne, except in one matter: I'm not still convinced that swimmers use more muscles than rowers: for instance, respiratory muscles are used, while rowing, to stabilize trunk, and I do not know if this happens in swimming. Of course, on-boat rowing is a bit more "complete" than ergometer (we use more pectorals, triceps, deltoids, etc.) - with differences between sculling and sweeping.<br><br>Cheers.<br>AM<br>

I find that sometimes my abs are really sore if I do a peice that is over 25 min. I think that sometimes if you're working really hard you can feel it all over.
