Greetings from Vermont...

I am looking for up to ten owners of Macintosh computers that are willing to participate in a beta test of Mac software for the PM3.

To participate, you must meet these requirements:

- Own and use a PM3
- Use your LogCard
- Be able to update your PM3 to Ver 90 firmware
NOTE: You will need access to a Windows XP PC with internet connection and USB cable to update the firmware in your PM3.
- Own and use a Macintosh with OS 10.2, 10.3, or 10.4.2 or above with working USB port, and have Excel or other spreadsheet program installed
- Ability to spend 5-10 hours between November 3 and November 9, 2005 testing various features and writing reports about what was tested and what problems were encountered
- Willing to take some risk of side effects of installing this program on your Mac computer. No problems are expected, but this is the nature of beta testing software.

Your rewards will be:
- Bragging rights -- you will be the first to see and use the new LogCard utility for the Mac
- A few extra LogCards for testing purposes

Please respond by Nov 2, 2005 to participate. You may contact me via "personal message" or email.

-- Scott Hamilton

Scott,

I would love to participate but do not have ready access to a windows PC. Your post does raise a related question however. I recently purchased the PM3 for my Model C. I mad eno attempt to load the CD software in my iMac, assuming that it is meant only for windows. Is this a valid assumption?

john hendrie

So, yes, your assumption is correct: if you only have a Mac, throw out the CD, it is of zero use to you.

This thread relates to a beta which is in preparation for release of our first (yea!) Mac software. This will be the LogCard Utility ver 3.0. This version will be released simultaneous with the PC version 3.0 and has many added features compared to the old LogCard utility.

Due to the firmware in your (and eveyone else's) PM3, it will not be compatible with Mac until you update the firmware to Ver 90 or above. I am sorry this is the case, but it is all I can do at the moment. To use this LogCard Utility for Mac, you will need to get your PM3 updated to Ver 90 firmware. Once at Ver 90 firmware, future firmware updates should be possible although this has not yet been tested.

-- Scott

Let me know when a Mac-compatible firmware updater is issued because the new Mac LogCard Utility is useless to me without it. Thanks.

IF we're able to make one, it'll be posted on the web site under the NEWS section and the Firmware Update section. However, it may not technically be possible due to large differences between the way Mac and Windows handles USB devices. The PM3 was never designed to work with Linux or Mac, but we are making progress in that direction...

Sorry to disappoint.

-- Scott
It has probably been thought of before but on the wild chance it hasn't, maybe a special LogCard could be designed to update the firmware.

I can't help with the testing, I'm afraid; don't own a P3. Since one of the chief attractions of the upgrade (the logcard) doesn't work with my computer, I haven't seen much reason to make the investment. But as soon as a P3 appears that I can use with my Mac, I'll be glad to buy one. Many thanks in advance to C2 for their interest in supporting Mac users. DGG
