At least we've got power (unlike those 75,000 folks in Poole, Dorset).

I even logged on to work, set an internal proxy to see if it could access http://www.concept2.co.uk and it was a non-starter too. Something is very borked.

I'd hope it's back online by 09:00 GMT tomorrow. I may try again around 22:30 GMT tonight.

This interwebby thingy is supposed to re-route around broken parts of the network so that a nuclear war doesn't prevent comms. That bit of the internet clearly doesn't work any more - I blame Dan Quayle.

It would be interesting to see traceroutes from other folks (who can and can't access the site). If we were really interested in getting it fixed.

The other option is to simply wrap a "someone else's problem" (an SEP) field round it and wait for the problem to disappear. That worked for Arthur or Ford or Slartibartfast or Zaphod (or whoever) in HHGTTG.

I've sent an e-mail to Pipex Tech Support (I'm not directly a Pipex customer) asking if they can look at the status of the server that appears to be the blackhole.

Perhaps we can get the Ranger USIRT threads eviscerated by pouring them down that hole while it exists.

At least we'll get a break from the Rich and John circus on the UK Forum for a while.
