On saturday, do some light, technical rowing.

On race day be relaxed, check the boat's rigging, hydrate well and have a nice meal with lots of carbs about 3 h before the race (don't eat too much!), and make a good warmup!

And don't forget to tell us about you results...

Good luck (I hope you won't need it)

Thanks for the advice, (lI read earlier but haven't replied yet) I decided to have about 3 hrs before my race and had breakfast with 2 eggs about 5hrs previously. It worked out ok. I did one thing different and didn't get to row on Saturday (I didn't feel like erging either ) but I still had some exercise (horseback riding) Thanks again for the advice.

I did terribly in the race... it was three miles and yet it felt like one. I was supposed to be racing for people but two bunked out so it was just me and another girl. She started a few strokes ahead (around 10) and I decided since I didn't know the course or anything to stay even till half way and follow her... BAD STRATEGY I forgot to clip my watch to the boat and for some reason despite the HORRIBLE weather the 3 miles only felt like one... so I waited to pass her for a halfway poit that never came. I ended up finishing 10 seconds behind her and feeling like I could do the course an easy 3 more times because I didn't push hard enough... so I screwed up but now I know I guess the first race is a learnign experiance. By the way it took me 35min to do it... HAHAHAHA I know that's the slowest sounding score but it isn't AS horrible as it sounds in comparrison because the weather was AWFUL... ok so now I'm just trying to defend my self... Oh well.

~Sara~

OMG we were suppose to go to that regatta... it was a disaster.

when we were driving down we got a phone call from the trailer... it got rear ended and 2 coxed fours were totalled... the regatta was cancelled for the juniors from ottawa rowing club.

ottawa rowing club won the lightweight 4+ though!
