I not sure if I am posting to the right place. I watch DVD's while I am rowing and I am after some advice on buying a set of wireless headphones. Can anyone recommend the ones they use - I am told infrared are good, and that Radio Frequency ones (RF) might get interference from the Concept 2.

Thanks for any help

The only RF source I have while using the erg is my Polar HRM chest strap (which is very low powered since it only needs a range of about 40cm).

I tried using the wireless IR headsets that came with my TV and I found that they are uncomfortable. They're too heavy, so they shift around alot and make my ears sweat. I'm not sure if this is an option for you, but I use those tiny bud earphones that come with the MP3 players (similar to these, but i had mine just laying around the house) I routed my TV audio signal through my stereo system, bought a 20 foot headphone extension cable and a Stereo Plug adapter. I connect everything together and I use a clothespin to clip the wire to my shorts while I row, so it doesnt get tangled.

It works great!

Different brands may be more sensitive but I've been very happy with the Sony.

Frank

I tried two varieties of wireless headsets (a Sony and an RCA?). The Sony lasted less than a million meters and the other less than half that.

Since then, like Sleepy_Floyd, I've used corded headphones with an extension. I find the earbud type to be very uncomfortable, so I bought a pair of Sony Sports StreetStyle. They are standard headphones except the headband goes around the back of the neck rather than over the top of your head and they are sweat resistant and incredibly tough, I've got over 7 million meters on mine and have stepped on them a number of times.

MDR-G57G seems to be the current model, around $30.

Another option here is to buy an FM transmitter and just use a small portable FM stereo w/ earphones. This is what I've been doing, but I must say the static can be pretty fierce. The FM transmitter plugs into the earphone jack of the tv, laptop, whatever, and then transmits on an FM station you choose. Then you just set your radio to that station. I wish it were clearer, but for me it works better than cranking up the tv or having a cord following me around. Transmitters are about $30 at Wal-mart.
I used the headphones wired up to an extension cable set up for a couple of years too. I had the plug in the for extension cable duct taped to the side of the seat, so it moved with me and didn't catch on the rower or the ground, and to disconnect I would just unplug the headphones themselves.

I looked at and seriously considered wireless headphones too. However, I decided to just go with powered computer speakers instead. So for around $20-50 you can get cheap but pretty good powered speakers, plug them into your headphone jack, and turn up the volume all you want. For TV viewing, the speakers don't need to be that loud; for music sometimes I crank them up. Obviously this makes more noise than headphones, but not a lot since the model C is pretty loud.

I find rowing without headphones to be much, much more comfortable. I really like being able to wipe my forehead while rowing without risking knocking the headphones out of wack.

I've got a set of Sennheisers. They are terrifically comfortable and I forget that I'm wearing them.
I row first thing in the morning while my husband is still sleeping, and he bought me the headphones .... They are a great way to watch a movie without having to crank up the volume full blast just so I can hear it over the flywheel.

It is from Logitech. I got them at BJ's for about 120 dollars. Expensive but worth it. I know your post said DVD's but I thought I would add my 2 cents in case you liked listening to music while you row.
